Like most who call New Jersey home, Im a fan of our Governor.
Its hard to believe Chris Christiewho is prominent on cable news once again this weekend thanks to his relentless PR campaign for the Jersey Shore to kick off its first summer since Sandywasnt even supposed to win against then-Governor Jon Corzine just a few years ago. Remember, the Garden State is decidedly blue. President Obama carried it by 17 points in November (and yes, Dick Morris did mention once that New Jersey may be in play for Mitt Romney), and no Republican has won here since George Bush (41) carried it 25 years ago (and yes, 1988 was already 25 years ago Im going to go run in traffic on the Turnpike now).
But Christie did win, and given the fiscal mess Corzine left behind, a budget hawk was just what Jersey needed to regain not only its credit, but its pride as a state that is mostly seen as a punch line by the rest of the country.
The Governors candor is mostly described as bullying by the scant 29 percent who still dont approve of the job hes doing. But for the 71 percent who do approve, they realize an unfiltered, brutally honest person is the kind of leader who truly reflects what this state is: Tough, resilient, proud.
But when you hear conservatives talk about Christie on the national level, theres that patently-ridiculous complaint that he embraced Mr. Obama a bit too much in the days after Sandy devastated the state (along with New York and especially Staten Island). Some say Christie even lost the election Romney, which is a tough sell considering the Presidents final margin of victory (106 electoral votes).
So despite the 52-year-old former state Attorney General cutting spending while creating jobs....

I’ll vote for anybody over the Democrat.
The primaries will be crammed with faux conservatives again.
Then, the GOPelite can get their golden boy nominated.
[I concluded years ago that the GOP doesn’t really care whether they win or lose, because they still get their turn at the troughs.]
Palin is currently running #3, Christie is #1.
Thing is, Christie is actively running, so he has a head start.
Just saying.

Lipstick on a pig ..is still a pig.
Not a fan of Christie since the Hurricane bonding with Obama. I am over him.
Well, one of the few good things Christie did was to snub Romney. That gets my approval.
And, yes, NJ is basically a liberal state. Republicans only get elected when the previous Democrat really screws up—as Jon Corzine did, and the voters choose someone to pick up the pieces. And, even then, they have to be basically liberal Republicans.
So, let Christie stay in New Jersey where he can do at least a little good. He’d be a disaster running for POTUS.
No one can win without structured major political party backing. Besides, Christie, although much too liberal for me, is a Conservative in a blue state He is pro-life, pro limited government and certainly is not a fan of public sector unions.
I believe that he would make an excellent VP candidate for a strong Conservative like Cruz or Paul He would bring some North East blue states into play. It may actually expand the map for conservatives for a change.
I do not want him to be the nominee for POTUS, but he would be a damn sight better than Romney. At least he would have some fighting spirit and the ability to think on his feet.
Me too. That's why if Chrisite or Jeb becomes the GOP candidate I will write my dog's name on the ballot.
And he'll be hard pressed any in any other state either. So even with 20% of the popular vote he'll accomplish nothing more that to put a sh*t eating grin on the face of whatever filthy Marxist punk the Rats nominate.
Of course I do hope we get a good candidate;)
Christie may be as good as it ever gets for a state like New Jersey. However, I have no use for him. He doesn’t believe in freedom and liberty. He believes in a big intrusive government. Bought the globull warming hoax. Yes, he would be slightly better than any rat, but he is not anyone I want.
Hasn't this been shown that it does not work for the good of the country.
It might not matter who runs.
We will be dam* lucky if there is still an America in 2016.
That being said, the Obama ass kissing fatso would be dead last on my list.
You go, BIG BOY, and teach them Republicans a lesson.
...of course if the Republicans manage to run a conservative, Christie will end up stealing more Dem votes than Rep votes. Happened with Reagan in 1980, when REPUBLICAN John Anderson ran to try to split the Republican vote, but only managed to steal from Carter - happened the other way in 1992 when Bush Sr, left the field open for Perot, who then handed the election to Clinton.
So if he were to win the White House as an Independent, which party would he work with in Congress???
Yes, that worked so well in 2008 and 2012.
Ditto man, DITTO !
Gee Christie, you’re a great guy, but I don’t think we can afford all the extra fuel that would be required to fly your fat rear end all over the place as president.
