The law was pretty restrictive limiting the user to ONLY the type of firearm they trained with and used to obtain the license. This just relaxes that restriction as it should.

No controversy here, just getting some sense into the system.

In Nevada you could carry any revolver, but you had to demonstrate proficiency with every make model and caliber for semi-automatics. If you had a Colt 1911, an officer’s model, and a Kimber, you had to shoot all three. The bar for demonstrating proficiency is set really low, but it was still odd.

It wasn't really that restrictive IMO, in that there were only two classes, revolvers, and semi-autos.

I think it's a good move. Next step is to remove the need for a permit to exercise our constitutional rights, be they open or concealed.
