If the IRS can get away with leaking NOMs confidential tax return to its chief political opponent, then no taxpayer is safe from political retribution by the federal government. This also poses a good response to "If you're not doing anything illegal, what do you have to worry about". It is entirely right and proper for people to do things they want to keep confidential, and to not trust that government will keep it that way.
