"Before World War II, almost all field corn grown was heirloom / open pollinated, but by the end of the war hybrid corn had really taken over in the midwest. A few diehards did hang onto the old heirloom / open pollinated corn varieties. These were replanted every year and reselected for improved strains. Today we have about 12 to 15 fairly common varieties left and these are all fairly good since they have stood the test of time.

Any idea what is killing all the bees in the USA?

Oh, for carps sake. Corn is wind pollinated. Honey bees have no interest in corn whatsoever.

The idea that Bt corn is killing bees is scientifically and common sensically stupid.
