A Southern Lawmaker In Connecticut Yankee Gunmakers' Court
Hartford Courant ^ | June 1, 2013 | Dan Haar

Posted on 06/01/2013 3:07:56 AM PDT by Biggirl

Alan Clemmons knew he had to act when he saw pictures of Texas Gov. Rick Perry arm-in-arm with a Connecticut gun company owner just a few weeks ago.

Clemmons, a state representative in South Carolina whose district includes Myrtle Beach, is a friend of Perry's and supported his presidential run last year. But Texas and South Carolina are fierce rivals for the hand of the jilted firearms makers, so Clemmons booked a trip to Connecticut to make his case personally.

Connecticut doesn’t need the gun manufacturers, they have yankee yuppies to support their state.

Colt, Mossberg and other gun/ammo manufacturers are on my “DO NOT BUY” list until they are out of CT, NY, MA, CA, IL and MD.

After reading the article, I must say... SC is still holding on to the “lost the textile industry”. Aside from a few specialty textiles, like parachutes, I think that industry left twenty years ago, maybe fifteen. After more than a decade, I think it is an illegitimate excuse. Last time I went to Mrytle, it was a drug infested, dilapidated beach town complete with endless tattoo parlors and bars. I prefer Charlestown SC to mrytle any day of the week. If I owned a manufacturing industry, I think the looks of the town reflect the people I would be hiring.

Funny seeing a West Virginian denigrating a place in South Carolina. That is rich.

Last time you went to Myrtle Beach you must’ve limited yourself to a few blocks around the former Pavillion before it was razed for redevelopment a number of years ago.

And, it’s Charleston. Not Charlestown. Your apparently low level of familiarity does little to validate your strong negative opinions.

Excuse me????? I am not West Virginian. I live in SC for a while, as well... I am not a S Carolinian either.. nor am I German, or Alaskan, nor any other place I have lived.
Fact is Mrytle Beach is a pit. Facts don’t lie. I live and work in WV, for now. SO KMA... and show some facts to the contrary. I do like Charleston SC, for those who clearly cannot read.

I believe Baretta has left Maryland or is in the process.

Our Governor is a genuine POS.

I remember when Beretta first came to the USA. They chose MD for a location because it seemed safe to them because it was so near the US Capitol. How’d that work out for them?

If you condemn an entire state based upon a dated, sketchy opinion and then compound an impression of ignorance by misspelling the name of a place you deem superior, then don’t be surprised when you’re called upon it.

You don’t know much about textiles either, while we’re at it.

And your particular level of expertise stems from just what, rolling down the mountain on I-77 to Columbia and hanging a left once, decades ago, lol?

IIRC, there are more golf courses in & around Myrtle Beach than anywhere else in S.C., along with Branson style entertainment complexes. It’s not the “Redneck Riviera” that some people think.

And we love visiting Charleston (live in Columbia); as the old Charlestonian native once remarked, “Why should I travel? I’m already here!” Much history and lots to see & do.

Don’t forget Hilton Head Island. Outside high (hot) season & the tournaments, not that expensive.

South Carolina is in serious competition with Texas & other gun friendly states for those manufacturers leaving liberal states, and the quality of life for those who relocate is an important factor.

So chill, dude.
