The National Security Agency is currently collecting the telephone records of millions of US customers of Verizon, one of America's largest telecoms providers, under a top secret court order issued in April.
The order, a copy of which has been obtained by the Guardian, requires Verizon on an "ongoing, daily basis" to give the NSA information on all telephone calls in its systems, both within the US and between the US and other countries.
The document shows for the first time that under the Obama administration the communication records of millions of US citizens are being collected indiscriminately and in bulk regardless of whether they are suspected of any wrongdoing.
The secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (Fisa) granted the order to the FBI on April 25, giving the government unlimited authority to obtain the data for a specified three-month period ending on July 19.
Under the terms of the blanket order, the numbers of both parties on a call are handed over, as is location data, call duration, unique identifiers, and the time and duration of all calls. The contents of the conversation itself are not covered.
The disclosure is likely to reignite longstanding debates in the US over the proper extent of the government's domestic spying powers

No, never mind. No one will care. We all have been taught to ignore the Bill of Rights.
Can they hear me now?

BIG Brothah is getting bigger and bigger! I can’t believe “the young” college kids have been programmed so thoroughly that they can’t see what is going on. Where the hell are those “occupy” clowns?
AMEN!
Oooh. Another criminal act nothing will be done about.
Playing Jinn on twitter.
This news does not surprise me. It just confirms that I wasn’t paranoid when I was paranoid conversing on the phone.
now you know why the National Security Agency is building the Utah Data Center
It can’t get here soon enough.
The judge that signed off on this definitely needs to be impeached.
Maybe they only need some sample data to test their programs on, some real-life thing.
Sort of like http://www.ingress.com/ where Google convinces the game oriented generation to test drive their real-time mass-scale human tracking software products.
The taps will be used to determine who is audited
and who will be murdered by released felons (DO”J”)
or murdered by DEATHCARE (DHHS).
There is no Law in the USA. NONE.
Didn't we know they were building an Area 54 style communications intercept facility in Utah?
What did we think they were building it for?
Oh how convenient. They started collecting data before the Republican nomination was officially determined. Who was still left at that point? Newt and Romney? Wonder if either were using Verizon for personal or campaign-related phone service?
Thankfully, I have an unlisted number.
I hope you are kidding.
Maybe I misinterpreted the article, but I don't believe there was any judge, any warrant involved. If a judge was involved, he's a secret judge.
Per article: "The secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (Fisa) granted the order to the FBI on April 25, giving the government unlimited authority to obtain the data for a specified three-month period ending on July 19. "
So... a court we have never heard of, probably staffed by Foreign Nationals, issued an ORDER that allows the FBI UNLIMITED SURVEILLANCE for three months on EVERYONE that uses Verizon, or Verizon's network.
SO.... even if there is a 'judge' involved, I don't think he will be within our 'legal national' jurisdiction, and surely his identity will remain a 'secret' for 'National Security Reasons'.
: )
Which only makes this thing much worse than it would first appear.
Have you ever watched any of the videos of YURI BEZMENOV speaking ?
