To call them "working class voters" is to reveal the Marxist thinking behind their analysis. How many Americans think of themsleves as "working class"? Probably only the hard core Democratic voters (those who are not upper middle class or on welfare).

For the Democrats to target this group of voters is about as ideologically consistent with their agenda of the past several decades as if Barry Goldwater in 1964 had made a big push to get Socialists and Communists to vote for him. Their hope is to fool people with nice sounding slogans when everything the Democrats actually do is contrary both to the values and to the economic wellbeing of these voters.

Exactly. The article's own words betray this impossibility: suspicion and distrust (this is a golden opportunity for the GOP to regain the high ground and move against intrusive government - Cruz, Rand and Lee get it - the appeal of a 'right to privacy', to be left alone, is very American) and then broad cultural traditionalism the Democrats are so steeped in overthrowing the existing cultural traditions of America that this is simply another opportunity to strengthen the GOPs hold on white voters.

Democrats own the domestic spying issue and the GOP should call it as such. The fact that Democrats are speaking up on this issue tells you all you need to know. Moreso, the Democrat stance on school vouchers, homosexual marriage and even gun control are urban wedge issues, particularly among blacks. Blacks get that they need fathers back in their communities. The GOP needs a more effective urban outreach program and asap.

Toss in Obamacare and single young people, along with a lot of soccer moms, also become reachable. Future elections are going to count on being able to poach voters. The GOP is making a mistake abandoning the urban vote. That's where people live and people vote.
