Scottish Law May Require Social Workers To Be Assigned To All Children (Sotland,UN)

The Scottish Parliament is considering a controversial bill that would assign a social worker to every child born in the country in order to “promote, support or safeguard the well-being of the child or young person.”

The Children and Young People Bill, though well-intentioned, has many critics who believe it infringes too much on the personal nature of child-rearing. According to the bill, every child would be assigned a “named person” other than the parents, but unlike in the case of naming a godparent, the parents do not have a choice of opting not to have one.

The first comment at the link has it right.

The article LEAVES OUT that this action is so Scotland can comply with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. A treaty the US wisely has not ratified.

For now. If progressives, democrats, leftists, etcetera continue, it will be back.

Here's another link to the same story at The Blaze.

There are other sources as well. When I searched for the story on FR I was surprised to not find it so I went ahead and posted.

Excuse the Sotland for Scotland, although that may apply as well, LOL! The Blaze has embedded flash which my work computer doesn’t like so I was distracted.

I posted a thread on it a few weeks back. Maybe not this exact one, but an article discussing it.

It's not because of them, it's the plan of globalists.

[[“promote, support or safeguard the well-being of the child or young person.”]]

If they think PARENTS are innadequate to raise a child, what makes these peopel ‘more expert’? IF they are goign to take over the duties of parents, then by golly they can PAY FOR raisign hte hcild- sendign htem to college, gettign married etc- Apparently we’ve coem to htre point where them other has the child, and the govenrment rips the child fro mthe mother’s arms and and the parents have to sign a release form givign hteir child to the govnerment?

We’ll See how Scottish parents react- IF they allow their children to be confiscated by their government- then there is no hope for this world-

We may have not signed onto the UN treaty yet- but you can bet that dear leader and his socialism/communism agenda are VERY VERY close to signign on

Well I know this. In Shetland, possible the rest of Scotland, you ARE NOT PERMITTED TO CARRY A KNIFE WITHOUT THE "PROPER" PAPERWORK/AUTHORIZATION! It must be somehow work related. NOT EVEN A POCKET KNIFE!

I've carried a knife ever since I was in grade school and have no intention to stop. Scotland, how far you have fallen!

You do not need a permit/paperwork etc to carry a knife in the UK. Yes, you are correct that the police can stop and confiscate any knife you are carrying, but in practice they only do that with the group they target regarding knives: teenagers/youths. Or criminals/junkies/dodgy types.

Remember the knife, in crime, to the UK is what the gun is to the US. Its the knife that is used to kill in the UK, not the gun.

I was wondering about that especially in light of the killing of the soldier in London. The perp was standing there were a machete and a clever.

The reason I mentioned Shetland is because of a segment I heard on Lerwick/Promote Scotland radio a while back. The host and guest were talking about how safe Lerwick was and credited it to the strict laws. That's where I heard about the knife law but never checked into it.

Thanks for clearing it up!

Interesting also that during The Lerwick Up Helly Aa many Guizers dress as Vikings and carry what look like real broadswords and axes.

Your link to the article a few weeks back may have been the one I read.

As it happens, the day I read the article I had lunch with a friend of mine from Scotland (who has lived in the U.S. for twenty-five years), and who considers herself a “conservative”. I was talking to her about this story and she said, “Well, you have to remember, we Scots don’t view the government the same way as you Americans do. I would have no problem with this and I would consider it an additional layer of help for me as a parent.”

Straight from the Scot’s horses mouth!

One of the most FRIGHTENING things ideas that I’ve seen in my lifetime.

Most of the successful parents on this site have likely broken every rule in the book regarding how to raise kids, starting with spanking, then denying them what they REALLY want (video games, I-phones, and now condoms), engaged in HATE SPEECH with them (i.e., took them to church and read the bible), taught them to shoot guns, and finally kept them clear of the liberal churning ground, that being public schools and often private schools too.

We all did this will staying under the radar of social workers, since we knew that our kids were HISTORY if they had any clue regarding the abject ABUSE we put them through. But we were never caught, and our kids are enjoying happy, successful, and God-forbid, conservative lives. But if you’re ‘caught’ the day you leave the hospital with your kid by having an assigned ‘case worker’, then none of this happens, because you know that the ‘case worker’ will be talking to your kid (without you around) from Day 1, and will quickly find a better set of parents for your kid (often a gay couple).

Some people claim that all it has to do with is money - that is FAR, FAR, from the truth. The money probably isn’t that much - this has much more to do with nabbing the kids that fall through the cracks, and wind up as model citizens, thereby making other ‘normal’ kids look bad

True - there is no such thing as a Knife Permit there, or Knife Registration (not yet, at least).

But there is a bit more to their knife law in England. Essentially, if you have a Buck Knife in public, maybe in your car (or backpack), you better be ready to show a really good reason for possessing it. Saying you went camping last week won’t cut it. Proving you are going to an event where that particular knife is needed - maybe ON THE WAY to the campground - is probably ok - but you’ll still have to make your case to the judge to keep out of jail, so you better be ready to prove your point. As the article notes, you are “presumed guilty” for public possession once you’re caught, and you now have to convince a judge that you had a valid purpose for it (and self-defense, obviously, is not valid).

I kid you not.

Once when my kids were young a meddling, leftist “friend” notified children and youth services that our kids were being abused because they...wait for it...didn’t have the same things as other kids in our neighborhood. In particular no Nintendo and sometimes no TV. I was unemployed at the time so money was tight. We couldn’t afford video games, cable tv or even a new tv when ours broke.

The social worker invedtigated and I thought it was over. Wrong! The worker started visiting twice a week to check on us.

Eventually it ended when I asked for the worker’s ID. I had not thought of that at first.

Not only did he not have ID but he didn’t have a driver’s license, no car registration or insurance!

Obviously we won, muvh to the annoyance of our leftist friend, lol!

Its crap like this that makes me think Scottish independence wouldn’t be such a bad thing for England. The mainstream of Scottish political opinion basically goes from Hard Core Socialism to “Social Democracy”, Anything more right wing than that is seen as swivel-eyed lunacy north of the border.
If the Scots divorced themselves from the Union, we’d have Conservative governments much more often.

“Not only did he not have ID but he didn’t have a driver’s license, no car registration or insurance!...Obviously we won, much to the annoyance of our leftist friend, lol!”

That’s the ‘problem’ they have now. They cannot investigate without some degree of ‘cause’. Your friend provided it. But what if your friend didn’t exist...then the kids would have been abused forever (i.e., no Nintendo).

So did you figure that this social worker was an imposter or what? Not being able to produce paper in that situation sounds quite strange and very criminal.
