Nine senators, congressman follow pattern of S&L scandal: contributions and intervention.
So here’s the formula.
An independent agency of the U.S. government.
United States Senators.
A powerful campaign contributor to said United States Senators.
A powerful campaign contributor who wants something from said independent agency.
Add it all together and what you get is — The Keating Five.
And the IRS Ten.
Let’s start, by way of illustrating how the game worked, with The Keating Five.

Obama and the Democrat Senators who used the IRS as a political weapon need to be held accountable.
The IRS Union needs to be exposed and abolished.
Start with NTEU.

Keating, Jr., whose bank later collapsed at a cost to taxpayers of $3 billion. The senators — Alan Cranston of California, John Glenn of Ohio, Dennis DeConcini and John McCain of Arizona, and Donald W. Riegle of Michigan (who attended only one of the meetings) — had collectively received $1.3 million in campaign contributions from Mr. Keating, and their actions later became the subject of a lengthy ethics investigation into what became known as the case of the Keating Five. In 1991, the Senate censured Mr. Cranston and reprimanded the others for “poor judgment.’’
If the average person did this, they would have served time in prison. Instead they get a tongue lashing.
McCain’s membership in Keating was barely covered by the Republican hating press at the time. He had been a great senator up until then. Since they left him alone, he’s been nothing but a crapweasel who continually jumps to the liberals’ whistle and a cancer to us.
Even FDR agreed ... The founders of the labor movement viewed unions as a vehicle to get workers more of the profits they help create. Government workers, however, don’t generate profits. They merely negotiate for more tax money. When government unions strike, they strike against taxpayers. F.D.R. considered this “unthinkable and intolerable.”

Jeffrey Lord has such a way of getting to the point. I hope Rush sees this.
The IRS union and all public employee unions should be abolished. But this is a sloppy comparison vis a vis the Keating 5.
In Keating, the Senators were asking the regulators to look the other way. The only reason for the senators to ask the regulators to step down was to protect a booster.
But there isn’t anything unusual about politicians asking for extra scrutiny of their political opponents. And there is a big difference between Keating giving lavishly to 5 senators and then getting results from them, and the IRS union giving small amounts to many dems.
Should go after IRS union directly as partisan and demonstrating partisanship and corruption without obscure analogies.
In mass gubmit unions should be abolished. Unions were founded to protect workers and get fair wages from over-lord company bosses. The Fed gubmit never has abused workers and they seem to be doing better wage-wise than their citizen bosses.
It will take a serious majority of conservatives in Congress and a conservative POTUS to overcome this anti-American union mess. Maybe all these nobama/lib actions will cause it to happen. Maybe.....

Recent shenanigans make the Keating Five debacle sound like a Friday night penny-ante poker game.

As soon as I saw McCain on the Senate committee investigating Benghazi I KNEW the fix was in.
Sure enough... he let Hillary get away with telling the committee to (essentially) STFU and saying “Who the hell cares, they’re dead.”
The ignorance of AZ Republicans will play a major part in the downfall of America because of their undying support of this American Traitor.
