So, the American government not only encourages premarital sex, it practically pays you to indulge in it. Sexually active American women who are single, and especially those who are single and pregnant, receive more government gifts than women who preserve their virginity and wait until marriage before having sex.
The ancient Israelites had a different way of handling this (see Deuteronomy 22 and “tokens of virginity”...if groom discovered that his bride was not a virgin, she could be stoned to death for “playing the whore” in her father’s house).
