He is helping Qatar and its Saudi allies. They are seeking a nat gas pipeline through Syria to Europe which will reap billions for the Arabs and end Russia’s monopoly on nat gas to Europe. Assad is a Russia ally and against the pipeline, so the U.S and the arabs want to overthrow him no matter the cost to us and our sons and daughters. Putin though will destroy the Arabs and especially our al Qaeda allies in Syria before he lets that happen. Personally I am rooting for Putin. I have had enough with the EU, the Arabs and the Obama administration. Sad to see our troops made fodder.

Well at least that is a reason. I don’t agree with using it to implement this new policy, but it is a reason.

I can’t really find myself wanting to back any of these players. I’m not as big a critic of Qatar or Saudi Arabia as others are, so I wouldn’t mind them getting their pipeline, but this isn’t the way to go about it.
