President Obama Criticizes Catholic Education
Catholic Education Daily ^ | June 18, 2013 | Tim Drake

Posted on 06/18/2013 10:22:44 AM PDT by Albion Wilde

During a speech yesterday in Belfast, President Barack Obama criticized Catholic education, suggesting that it’s harmful to national unity.

“If towns remain divided—if Catholics have their schools and buildings and Protestants have theirs, if we can’t see ourselves in one another and fear or resentment are allowed to harden—that too encourages division and discourages cooperation,” said the President, during his Northern Ireland Visit for the G8 summit.

The Scottish Catholic Observer pointed out that Archbishop Gerhard Müller, prefect of the Vatican's Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith, recently praised Catholic education before a Scottish audience.

In terms of ObamaCare, his rulings have attacked pro-life Christians, the largest body and most consistent over time of which has been the Catholic Church.

In terms of ObamaCare, his rulings have attacked pro-life Christians, the largest body and most consistent over time of which has been the Catholic Church.

But you're making the "toothless tiger" argument. While the RCC has been very vocal in their defense of the unborn, their church membership has consistently voted for the people who passed the laws that allow the unborn to be killed. In addition to that this membership consistently voted for the politicians that subsidized planned parenthood and other abortion mills. Compare this record with the voting record of the less publicized, decentralized Evangelical Christian community. I'm always more impressed by the 7 day a week Christians rather than the Sunday go to meeting Christians.

I agree with your analysis of obamacare. It is a direct assault on pro-life Christians. As we see all Christian values denigrated and mocked we are seeing the end of American Exceptionalism. Religious liberty is coming to an end. The assault on churches will continue until church membership is what it is in Europe, something you're born into and doesn't mean anything else.

However, in this instance I don't believe he is picking on RC's anymore than he is picking on Protestants.

On the contrary, Marxism has always known, and still believes, that their only viable global enemy is the Catholic Church.

This is not supported by the facts. The most liberal states in the USA are dominated by RC's. The states with the least restrictions on abortion are dominated by RC's. The RCC was instrumental in bringing the socialists to power in the USA, principally through their support of "social justice", and a majority of RC's supported the socialists in the last election.

It seems to be a common mistake at FR for conservative RC's to think that they are representative of their church, but that is just not true. In fact they are a minority within their church.

BTTT on that thought. How dare he try to tell other countries and the people within them how to behave or legislate?

There are plenty of "catholics." There are far fewer Catholics. Only the Catholics represent Catholicism. The catholics left long ago, though they occasionally cast a shadow on the doorstep, and they do often support what you say.

Real Catholics don't really consider these latter catholics, Catholic :0)

***...the Gettysburg address...***

Do you happen to know the zip code? ;-D

I went to a private three-room red brick school [not really parochial but very Bible grounded] in the Tennessee mountains in the 50's. We had four grade classes in the same room: 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th. In the seventh grade I learned Greek, and in the 8th grade I learned Latin. While I am not proficient in naturally reading either today, I can still pick up the gist.

Today we have one grade class in one room and we hope they can learn English!!!
