I don’t think it was just used there, my mother was from Missouri and she used the word to designate people that were what we would now call losers, low life, worthless. To my mother it was not a racial word either- she called whites that if they were really not good people. In the 50s, 60s time frame I heard many use the word that way even in Arizona, blacks at that time called worthless people that name as did whites. I could see my mother use that word in a deposition at that time, it was commonly used.
I met her husband and brother on a cruise, they came in the cigar club. A couple of us offered our cigar cutters, but they had to have the attendant cut theirs with a plastic V cutter, that they said was better. The rest of us laughed at their snobbery after they left, they just wanted the attendant to cut and hold the lighter for them. They didn’t know how to correctly light a cigar and held them so we couldn’t miss the seeing the label. They ripped their followers off, we met three women, who paid twice what we paid for our suite and they had an inside cabin with a bunk bed. They did get a special BBO on the pool deck, which was closed off for the rest of us.
The only times, I saw Paula was in the casino, with her two black bodyguards and she appears to be a big gambler.
It was more complicated in New Mexico than whether to call Latinos Mexicans or Spanish- Spanish was used to designate the descendants of the Spaniards and they would make it plain they were not Mexicans; Mexicans were from Mexico. That was like a mine field, I remember when I was a kid a Spaniard friend of my dad’s yelling and cursing because his daughter was marrying a Mexican as if it was a fate worse than death. It is still that way in some of the elders, but mostly not so serious as they took it back then.
Proof that liberals can’t be held to a standard the must be able to flip flop to fit their agenda.

I was surprised the cat's name wasn't edited out somehow.

What many don’t realize is the foreigners also have certain non-complimentary names for whites.
I think this is about obesity, but mostly because liberals are all hate, all the time. Paula is white, Southern, Christian...and fat. Just too much for a liberal to resist hating. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if PD had someone research a list of 1,000 pop-culture references (in the last FIVE years) that use the word ‘nigger’ and then put that list on her web page?
Now that she has been mugged we can expect her to return to her roots and become a political and social conservative. She has seen the error of appeasing progs. They are no one’s friend, not even their own.
