There is still a large contingent in western Nebraska who would prefer secession or aligning with KS, WY, or CO. They may find some support in western Nebraska.
They are welcome to go as far as I am concerned. I am an engineer that works with the transportation formula a lot. That is where the money comes from and where it goes to pay for building and repairing roads. It is not just gas tax. The tax you pay on cars and a number of other things go into the pot. Most of the money comes from the urban areas.
There is also a complicated formula that divides up the money. Some goes to the State, some to counties, and some to Cities. That formula is weighted to give more money to the rural parts of the State than the urban parts of the State. The urban areas carry the rural areas.
If they want to go, I applaud them.
