What Obama Did on His Summer Vacation: Kill 760,000 Jobs (Thank Those Who Voted For Him)

Prepare for your electric rates to go up, Chevy Jolt drivers. That's what happens when Obama goes on vacation.

Under executive fiat, the EPA will shortly be forcing the shutdown of the rest of the coal fired plants in the United States. Obama closed about 20 percent of them in 2011 when he went on vacation in Martha's Vineyard.

With a bigger vacation budget this year, he probably figured "What the hell? Why not close the rest of them?"

Since coal generates about half the electricity demanded in the US, the country will have to find other, more expensive ways of making up half of the electrical capacity at a time that the administration wants electric to be the clean fuel of choice.

Ironically, as I posted previously, just a few weeks ago I got a whiney email from the public relations guy at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, complaining that the number of nuclear reactors going up to generate electric is lower than they anticipated.

Maybe Obama doesn’t understand that he can’t import electricity from Brazil. No nuclear, no coal? OK, I get it. This is how Obama bails out his buddies in the solar business, including Buffet and G.E.

That solar costs more and isn't clean probably has some advantages for Obama.

In addition to the loss of electrical generating capacity, the Commerce Department estimated that when they killed just 20 percent of coal fired plants they killed up to 60,000 jobs, according to Heritage, while an industry trade group said that the rules will cost $129 billion, according to the Washington Post.

So that's...carry the two, divide by 5.... That's 60,000 direct jobs in power plants, another 82,000 jobs in mining, and 30,000 jobs in coal transport plus associated jobs.

According to the The American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity the new initiatives will cost the country 760,000 jobs in total.

“If the Obama administration fails to recognize the environmental progress the industry has made and continues to adopt more regulations," said ACCCE's head Mike Duncan, "coal power could cease to exist which would be devastating for our economy.”

Since when has Obama ever cared about the economy? Or jobs.

During the 2008 presidential campaign then-Senators Barack Obama and Joe Biden both claimed that if elected they would institute policies that make it cost prohibitive for coal-fired plants to operate in the United States.

Looks like this is one promise they’ll keep.

“So, if somebody wants to build a coal plant, they can,” Obama told the San Francisco Chronicle in a clip the paper likely tried to suppress, “it’s just that it will bankrupt them, because they are going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted.”

While the Obama campaign scrambled at the time to say that their comments were taken out of context, Mike Carey, president of the Ohio Coal Association issued a statement that rings true today.

“Senator Obama,” said Carey in November 2008, “has revealed himself to be nothing more than a short- sighted, inexperienced politician willing to say anything to get a vote. But today, the nation's coal industry and those who support it have a better understanding of his true mission, to 'bankrupt' our industry, put tens of thousands out of work and cause unprecedented increases in electricity prices.”

The administration is using new interpretations of long-ago passed emission standards- standards that no administration has tried to enforce- along with vague, esoteric “visibility” standards to target older, coal-fired plants.

But as Obama tries to shore up his base of support amid blistering criticism from progressive groups on spying, human rights abuses and constitutional issues, look for Obama to continue to use backdoor regulatory means to enforce, ignore or otherwise interpret laws to benefit special interests that support the president’s agenda.

This is how Obama scrapped Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, instructed the Justice Department to ignore enforcement of the Defense of Marriage Act and announced that the administration would be suspending deportation of illegal aliens in an effort to avoid enforcement of immigration laws. Lately, he used the same tactic to delay the implementation of the Big Company mandate provision of Obamacare.

Obama, back in the day been subject to harsh criticism from Hispanic leaders, who are still stuck on the Democrat plantation, after the administration bragged that they deported more illegal immigrants than the Bush administration.

The president has issued more job-killing regulations than any of his predecessors- at least 131 of them in his first term- at a cost of $70 billion just for adoption. Total economic costs of federal regulations are sky-rocketing to $1.75 trillion in 2008 said the federal government’s own Small Business Administration in 2010, the last time they were allowed to calculate such costs. Yeah. that's right. They haven't been willing or able to update the costs since then.

In short, the coal group got it right in November 2008.

President Obama has revealed himself to be nothing more than a short-sighted, inexperienced politician willing to do anything, saying anything and pay anything to go down as the "transformation president."

And I think when the economics of closing coal fired plants clashes with the history of Obama's presidency, history will be influenced by economics, not rhetoric.

Even while on vacation.

And unfortunately, those who stayed home.

I was no fan of Romney, but at least he wouldn’t have done this.

I believe the Usurper-in-chief is deliberately trying to inflict as much economic pain on this nation as possible.

Let’s cut to the chase. Quit blaming the Obama voters solely. It was voter fraud that mainly kept him in office.

I seem to remember the Marxist Bragging,”my energy policies will cause energy prices to necessarily skyrocket”,so like it or not ,he did warn the American people what was coming and being the buffoons the majority of voters are these days ,we all will get it’
You know we all complain about all the lawlessness of this administration, but where is the opposition,or,is there any opposition? What a sad display on this Celebration of Independence Day.
I could not help but feel saddened when listening to people proclaiming how we owe our freedom to the courage and sacrifice of so many, and thoughts crept in the back of my mind, yeah and look what has happened, the scandals, corruption in the highest office of those charged with enforcing our laws, those who are supposed to act in accordance with the Constitution but flout it at every turn and there is NO out cry! We get comments on how politically brilliant, this is pathetic. I wish I at least could garner hope from somewhere, really sad.

“I also blame those that refused to vote for Romney.”

I held my nose and voted for Romney yet I don’t blame those who were disgusted by Obama and refused to vote for Romney . Rationale:

1) No citizen is under any obligation to vote for or against any candidate or vote at all. It is the candidate’s job to sell himself or her self to the voters. For over two decades the GOP has sold itself to conservative voters as “even though we say we are conservative we will compromise conservative principles when elected. However, we aren’t as bad as the Marxist Democrats.” It is the candidate’s job to sell himself to the voters and earn the vote, not the voter’s obligation to vote for “least bad”.
2) Romney flip flopped on so many issues over the past decade it wasn’t clear if his stated position during the campaign was his real position or not. Furthermore, his record of flip flopping suggested he couldn’t be trusted (much like George H.W. Bush on taxes). Anyone who looked at Romney’s real record as governor would know he was much more an advocate for the progressive agenda than the conservative agenda. Given his deceptive behavior, and his strong ties to the progressive elite establishment, it is difficult to say with certainty what Romney’s policy would have been toward coal and the environment once he landed in office.
3) Romney was the candidate of the GOP establishment. The GOP establishment today seems to be backing the progressive side on every major issue - gun control, immigration, gay marriage, deficit spending, support for Syrian rebels and the Muslim brotherhood, taxes (don’t forget even the house caved on tax rates), abortion and free birth control, and even Obamacare. Many of the GOP elite (McCain for example) proudly run around the country saying they believe in global warming. Romney himself said he believed in climate change and was deliberately vague in talking climate change policy during the campaign. Given the degree to which the GOP establishment has adopted the progressive agenda it doesn’t take a strong leap of faith to assume under a well orchestrated public relations blitz against coal by the media, Democrats, and environmental groups President Romney would have followed the same path Obama is pursuing.

4. Voting is a privilege and a responsibility but not an obligation in a nation that espouses individual liberty. If a voter is given only two choices and finds both of the choices unacceptable, the voter can certainly come to the conclusion it is irresponsible to vote for either candidate. Freedom to choose in the voting booth also means freedom not to choose.

Hate to see people suffer...job losses, soaring electric rates, rolling power outages but maybe folks will wake up and realize that elections have consequences. It’s no secret Zer0 had no interest in prosperity or job creation. Perhaps this will provide the much needed tipping point.

.......Perhaps this will provide the much needed tipping point.

Forget that. It won't ever happen. Obama voters will blame the Republicans, not Obama or his policies. They will tell you that if the Republicans had not opposed and obstructed Obama, he would have straightened out the mess long ago and we would be living in a Upton Society today.

What he is doing and he is doing it successfully is turning the United States into a 6 rate power. The voters of the United States did something in 8 years that Hitler, Tojo, and the Communist Party could not do in 67 years. Destroy the United States. millions of individuals gave their lives fighting to preserve the United States. They graves were latterly pissed on. Their sacrifices were spat upon with contempt. Other untold thousands sacrificed parts of their bodies from frostbite, jungle rot, trench foot, enemy bullets and shrapnel , being rendered blind and paralyzed from battle wounds. Others were tortured by being used for bayonet practice, beaten and starved to death as POWs. All this for an “American” voting public that says, fuck you, instead of thank you. while I am not ashamed of my Country, I am damned sure ashamed of some of those who live here and have prospered because of the sacrifices and shed blood of others and showed their contempt for those sacrifices by putting this impostor in the white House, not once but twice.

Every day I'm more amazed at how much farther the press is willing to go to cover for the b*stard.

What could he possibly do now that would cause them to begin reporting truthfully?
