(CNN) -- Eliot Spitzer, who resigned as governor of New York in the wake of a prostitution scandal, is looking at a return -- this time as comptroller of New York City.

He said he hoped that voters would be able to see beyond his past.

"I accepted responsibly for what I did," Spitzer told CNN late Sunday night. "I spent five years of working, doing useful things, and I hope the public will offer me an opportunity."

Spitzer, a Democrat, resigned in 2008 after revelations about his relationship with a prostitute. Since stepping down, he has worked as a commentator for various news outlets, including CNN.

In running for comptroller, Spitzer said he's looking for forgiveness and a second chance.

Could New York City be on the way to having a Weiner-Spitzer government?

PING!

I never thought staying in the public light for 5 years was useful ,
much less that CNN (Commie News Network)
is considered ‘community service ‘.

As Comptroller , he could at least afford to be customer #6

For the past fifty years many Americans have succumbed to the allure of the low life. There is widespread drug use, fornication, pornography, abortion, homosexuality, the expectation of endless entitlements, loss of the work ethic and an unwillingness to make moral judgements. The culmination was the election and reelection of Obama. Politicians if nothing else know how to chart political winds. Certified lowlifes like Spitzer and Wiener know that in NYC, they are within their element.

I figured someone would BEAT me to it but didn’t think it would be this ‘early’....usually have to wade through 100 or so before a ‘great idea’ is used..... HA....

Hey, Spitzer...I saw some of the "useful things" you did on TV. Frankly, I've seen houseplants with more reasoning power, not to mention personality. Before you help yourself to more of the taxpayers' money, would you mind learning how to do something useful in the private sector other than looking like some steaming turd? Thanks.

Nor would I, however, we are talking New York, so both will probably win their bids in landslide victories.

The fact that Spitzer or Weiner are even considered for public office is a stunning comment on how incredibly stupid the New York electorate is.

The question is, why do people like Trump and his peers let people like Weiner and Spitzer run their city?

I could say Spitzer, Weiner and Clinton are scumbags, but then I’d have
to apologize for insulting bags filled with scum.
