The Cause of the Wildfires Is...A Forest Jihad?

Wildfires have raged across the Southwest. Environmentalists insist it is the fault of global warming. Oops, climate change.

They of course claim that hot and dry conditions can only be attributed to man-made warming. Our beloved president naturally had to weigh in.

On June 25 he stated his conviction that climate change is to blame. Never let a good crisis go to waste, eh Mr. President? He said: "Many Americans who already feel the effects of climate change don't have time to deny it."

It's funny how often Obama insists we have no more time. He can't wait for others to act. It never matters what the "crisis" is. We must always take immediate action. Pick any so-called "crisis" and you'll find an Obama call to action.

But even man-made climate change (of which there is none) can start a wildfire. So what is the cause of the wildfires, like the Arizona blaze that killed 19 elite firefighters?

Many believe it simply lightening strikes. That seems to be the most reasonable explanation. A single lightning strike to an overgrown forest can easily spark a wildfire.

Yet there is an interesting twist to the possible cause of the wildfires. A Palestinian jihadist group, the Masada al-Mujahideen have recently claimed credit for setting the Western forests ablaze, particularly Arizona.

Does the name Mujahideen ring a bell? It is a new, similar version of the group we helped in their fight against the Soviets in Afghanistan. Bin Laden was part of a Mujahideen group in the ‘80s.

Their statement was posted on several jihadist forum sites. The post read: "We had previously announced an unconventional war against the occupation state of Israel, and then we escalated this war to reach its main supporter, America, so that it receives a major share of it, which will destroy their flora and fauna, with permission from Allah and then with our hands. In order to make it clear and to make it known that we can reach it [the U. S.] when we warn it, and to make it certain that our hands don't just reach it but also strike it."

The Post also boasted of the 19 dead firefighters.

In January 2012 the same group claimed credit for the Nevada wildfires.

US intelligence does not put much stock in the claims by the terror group. They believe the group is simply taking credit for a tragic natural occurrence.

But last year Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) claimed that factions of Al Qaeda were responsible for fires across Europe. This is the same intelligence service that warned us of the Tsarnaev brothers. Maybe we should start listening to them.

In a 2012 issue of Al Qaeda's "Inspire" Magazine there was an 11 page how-to article on starting forest fires, a "forest jihad"

In the article was: "Fire is one of the soldiers of Allah. Imagine that, after all the damages caused, if a jihad organization were to take responsibility for the forest fires. You can imagine the dread it would cause people in the United States, Europe, Russia and Australia."

By this did they mean to just take responsibility for the fires?

Well, Alexander Bortnikov, chief of the FSB said: "One should note that setting fires to forests in the countries of the European Union is a new tendency in Al Qaeda's strategy of a ‘thousand cuts’. This method allows Al Qaeda to inflict significant economic and moral damage without serious preliminary preparations, technical equipment or significant expenses."

As I stated, the conventional wisdom is these fires were not arson but naturally caused. I hope our "intelligence services" are taking a closer look. I'd hate to find out that they discounted the Russian claim and dropped the ball again.

The Black Forrest Fire which destroyed 509 houses and the Waldo Canon Fire which destroyed 379 houses were both man caused according to the experts, but there have been no arrests or suspects named.(Two of the most damaging Colorado Fires)

I remember a thread here on FR last year which stated that Islamist leaders were postulating that setting such fires anywhere in the Western states of the USA would be devastating and would cost millions in lost assets & fighting. That is a true loss.

I live where the lightning is a culprit more often than not, but some of these fires sure seem suspicious.

It doesn’t help when the Enviros stop ranchers from grazing on Federal lands, which keeps ‘ladder fuels’ to a lower risk of fires getting out of control. Plenty of ladder fuels added to thousands of trees damaged by the bark beetle and you have a catastrophe just looking for a flash point.

I live about 35 miles east of Carson City, Nevada. Today is the 8th day of a fire which started about 20 miles south of Carson City started by lightning.

It is in an area which hasn’t burned in over 30 years, and the winds here have driven it well. There are now about 1000 people fighting the fire. I have been smoked in for over 5 days of the 8 the fire has been running. Wind currents put the smoke over my property & literally blocked out the sun.

Evacuations of ranches in an adjoining valley where the fire went over the mountain were underway yesterday. Ranch animals had to be trailered out- cattle/horses and others.

The smoke isn’t kind to one’s voice, either.

Started on purpose?

Would not surprise me one little bit...whether by Islamists or the Eco-crazies like those who have burned down construction & damaged large auto sales lots.

The Black Forest Fire had fires poping up all over the place, not jumping, but new fires, with no apparent origin.

Closing off areas by naming them a pre-evac zone seemed to stop that.

My own thoughts are that this was set in response the ElPaso County sheriff starting the civil rights lawsuit against the state of CO for passing the two unconstituional gun laws.

That suit currently has 58 of the 63 elected sheriffs signed on.

Nothing more than get-even-with-em-ism by the Leftists, probably even local Leftists.

I remember back in about 2005 there was a huge fire somewhere. There was an arrest made very shortly after that and the news was posted on Free Republic, credited to a news station local to the area of the fire. It was definitely a middle-east sounding name. The article was removed from FR in about 15 minutes and I never heard any more about it. I found that very strange.

I don’t recall, in my nearly 60 years, fires being so frequent and devastating as they are now. I have always thought it was a very easy way for islamists to cause the country severe damage and financial devastation.

In 1998 we had a fire at the Vail Ski Resort with and estimated $12 million. The fire destroyed three buildings and four chair lifts. Four Ecoterrorists were indicted for these fires. So, there is history of this sort of thing.

Just about all of our worst fires have been set deliberately.

There were plenty of threads on that that weren't pulled, and the name was Armenian, which is of course not unusual for California; Armenia being the oldest Christian country on earth.

Just about all of our worst fires have been set deliberately.

There have been plenty of lightning-caused fires (including the recent fatal Arizona fire) and it's fairly easy to confirm now with nation-wide real time lightning detection networks.

A bit of a dirty little secret is that many of the arson forest fires are set by....firefighters.

Main thing behind the claims of jihadists starting fires is that people really, really, really want jihadists to have started fires.

.
I can think of four that were, and there are also several that were set by USFS rangers.
