Red caviar - or salmon roe - is usually at the more affordable end of the market, at less than a 10th of the price of the prized beluga in the UK. However, in Kamchatka territory, which produces up to 60% of Russian caviar each year, wholesale prices have jumped ...

I do not eat caviar very often. I suppose even less in future, if prices keep rising. I have noticed price rises in lots of foodstuffs, not just luxury products.

I only eat caviar when others are paying at a business celebration (it's tasty but way too ostentatious to buy for eating at home in front of my kids).

Like sushi I have never tried caviar, I wouldn’t even consider eating raw fish or their raw eggs, but that’s just me I guess.

Caviar is nothing but a salmon or sturgeon embryonic egg with salt water in a membrane.

No taste, but then again, those fools who pay high prices for encased salt water also have no taste, or brains.

Fish roe from certain species does have some substance and taste, but it looks like puke, and doesn’t taste much better.

NO CAVIAR> Let the fish eggs live so that we can have more Gefilte Fish.

If I was worth a billion dollars I'd have precisely *zero* interest in *any* type of caviar.Unfortunately (for my coronary arteries) I cannot make the same statement regarding prime rib.

Yep, so have I. Fish eggs make good bait.

You can catch *anything* with salmon eggs, and the more bright neon-dyed they are, the better. I think caviar is a pretty garnish, but to spend $100 to eat it out of a tiny can? Nyet.

I actually like caviar. I guess it's a matter of what appeals to whom.

I last had it at Oktoberfest at Mountain Lake in Virginia. It was served with smoked Salmon, hard boiled egg and red onion. It was worth it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzdBepAAffU

I was disappointed with the fight, although they were delicious.

The trick is to use it almost as a condiment, like chutney, where the salt is distributed over a larger item and will not be overpowering.

Good stuff cost money. We eat caviar few times a week. You should know where and what to buy.

Do y’all pop each egg individually in your mouth? That’s the height of caviar epicureanism. It’s kinda fun, like monkeying with a pomegranate.
