Honest Discussion Needed

Turn on the TV.

This week the "big news" is the birth of a British royal.

Even Drudge ran the birth of the Prince of Cambridge at the top of his page, treating it like it was the biggest event out of Europe since D-Day.

Maybe the media wanted to change the subject to something pleasant -- or completely unimportant -- but the arrival of Kate and William's baby boy was a timely blessing.

It blew George Zimmerman, Trayvon Martin and the issue of race in America off the front pages. It even eclipsed President Obama's teleprompter-free speech about the Zimmerman verdict last Friday afternoon.

The liberal media, as usual, gave the presidential sermon a standing ovation, saying that Obama -- who claimed Trayvon Martin could have been him 35 years ago -- hit a home run.

But I agree with what that old boo-bird Bill O'Reilly said on his TV show Monday night. The president didn't whiff completely, but he grounded out weakly to second base.

O'Reilly, madder than usual, praised the president in his "Talking Points Memo" for bringing up the issue.

But then he blasted Obama and other black leaders for still having "no clue" how to solve the social and moral problems that continue to rip apart black communities in our cities.

They won't dare mention the issues of drug gangs, out-of-wedlock births, fatherless families and welfare dependency, O'Reilly railed, "because race hustlers and the grievance industry have intimidated the so-called 'conversation,' turning any valid criticism of African-American culture into charges of racial bias."

O'Reilly pointed out that, yes, Martin was profiled by Zimmerman, the community watchman. But it wasn't because of his race.

It was because Martin was wearing a hoodie -- the official national uniform of urban street thugs and drug gangs.

When President Obama said Martin could have been him 35 years ago, he was talking nonsense. Thirty-five years ago, Barack Obama wasn't stalking around gated communities at night wearing gangster clothes and getting in fistfights.

Trayvon Martin's death was a horrible tragedy. That cannot be said too many times.

But Martin's death should not be exploited any further by the president or anyone else as proof that white racism is the chief cause of problems in the black community.

Black communities have been breeding a criminal class for decades. Repealing stand-your-ground laws or passing stricter gun control laws will not change that. Nor will blaming the justice system.

The black community's problems begin at home. They are not a result of slavery or discrimination or poverty.

They are, as O'Reilly said, a result of the disintegration of the black family, a gangster culture that glorifies criminals, and a bunch of so-called civil rights leaders who ignore reality, preach victimhood and blame racism for everything.

Young black males are dying at disproportionate rates in Chicago and other cities not because they're being shot by racist white cops, or wanna-be cops like George Zimmerman, but because they are being gunned down by other young black males, usually over drug-gang turf wars.

O'Reilly said, "It's now time for the African-American leadership, including President Obama, to stop the nonsense. Walk away from the world of victimization and grievance and lead the way out of this mess."

Exactly.

Black leaders, including the president, need to step up and start talking about the real causes of crime and poverty in black communities. So should our gutless media.

For a year the president and black leaders have cynically exploited a tragedy to "prove" that society still needs to do much more for blacks.

Instead they should be using Trayvon Martin's death as an opportunity to start an honest national discussion about what the black community needs to do for itself.

I don’t have TV, but I heard that a baby was either born or about to be born. Meh.

I love not having to follow all the crap that is utterly irrelevant.

Done with this thread. ;-)

Obviously lots of coverage on the BBC but the still do actual news. For instance, they actually continue to report on Egypt which BTW is a growing disaster.

Like that will ever happen. The "black community" meaning the lazy mouthy welfare parasite blacks rather than the hard working striving to get ahead blacks that I know has only itself to blame for its problems. And, you all know they'll never asknowledge that as the truth

Trayvon Martin's death was a horrible tragedy.

No it wasn't. It was justice.

Trayvon Martin attacked George Zimmerman and attempted to kill him. As a last resort, to save his own life George Zimmerman exercised his God-given right to defend himself by using deadly force.

The only tragedy here is the political persecution of George Zimmerman for defending himself against a black man.

The Brits desperately need good, cheery news. Weeks after the beheading of a British soldier IN DOWNTOWN London by 2 Muslims, they need to smile and rejoice. 20 years of Lady Diana this, Charles and Camilla that, embarrassed Queen, etc., they needed this one.

Having said that, the world is watching the so-called Arab Spring, turn into the Jihad Winter and bumbling about what do to about it.

So, better to hide behind a newborn Prince, some crumpets and tea, the Queens underwear than deal with the harsh realities that England is being overrun by Islam...

The tragedy is that the culture of bastardity that led to the death of “17 year old Trayvon Martin” (long name, don’t ya think?)

has been created, fostered, and promoted by the left

simply as a weapon against people who ascribe to an ideology and culture based in God’s Law.

You probably won't recognize me or even know my name. My name was Antonio Santiago.

I was the 13-month old baby who was shot in the face at point blank range by two Black teens who were attempting to rob my mom, who also got shot. A Grand Jury of my mommy and daddy's peers from Brunswick, Georgia, determined the teens who murdered me will not face the death penalty because they were too young... too bad. I was given a death sentence by them for being too young--White, innocent, defenseless and in the 'wrong' neighborhood where I lived.

My mommy and daddy made the mistake of being White and living in a 73% non-white neighborhood, but my murder was not ruled a Hate Crime. The Justice Department never even investigated my death, or if my rights were violated. President Obama didn't take so much as a single moment to acknowledge my murder or honor me.

I am one of the youngest murder victims in our great nation's history, but the media doesn't care to cover the story of my tragic demise. Michelle wasn't heartbroken. President Obama has no children who could possibly look like me, so he doesn't care and the media didn't care because my story is not interesting enough to bring them ratings so they can sell commercial time slots.

There is not a White equivalent of Al Sharpton because if there was he would be declared racist, so there is no one rushing to Brunswick, GA., to demand justice for me. There is no White Panther party to put a bounty on the lives of those Black guys who murdered me. I have no voice, I have no representation and unlike those who shot me in the face while I sat innocently in my stroller - I no longer have my life.

So, while you are seeking justice, rioting and demonstrating for Trayvon Martin, in Florida, please remember to seek justice for me, too. Tell your friends about me, tell your families, get tee-shirts with my face on them and make the world pay attention, just like you're doing for Trayvon Martin.

Thank you,
Tony

Trayvon Martin's death was a horrible tragedy.

No, it was not. It was the inevitable, predictable, natural consequence of Trayvon Martin's choice to embark upon a life of violent crime. That choice may have been a terrible tragedy. Trayvon Martin's parents' failure to teach him otherwise may have been a terrible tragedy. But having made that choice, the only additional terrible tragedy would have been allowing him to continue carrying it out without consequence.

It’s been a couple days Since BOR’s Talking Points memo and all we have is stunned silence from Obama, Sharpton, and Jackson. They know they have a losing hand so all they do is ignore it and hope no one calls them on it.

“Oh, I think it has been. “

Ditto with the phrase “Honest Discussion”. All one as to do is keep abreast of the black on white violence and even the black on black violence and we KNOW the honest discussion IS about many black single parents not raising their children with any sense of morality because they have none themselves. Point in case—St Trayvon—Daddy was a gang banger, moma was a druggie that had very little to do with rearing tm. The result was a thug whose supervising parent at the time of his assault on Zimmerman didn’t even realize he was missing.

He mentions the royal birth as big news that is actually trivial then goes on to mention a story ,that he thinks should be covered, that is another one that's been hyper hyped, the Travon story!

The only real news of significance in the Travon story is that the RATS picked up this self defense case is an effort to take away our ability to defend ourselves with a gun. Fortunately they bungled up the whole effort by using an exceptionally weak case to bang the drums with.

If America has to have a treasonous tyrant in charge Thank God he is such an incompetent lazy one!
