Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity will likely remain giants in the talk-radio industry and simply move to other stations in large markets not affiliated with Cumulus Media, predicted the publisher of an online magazine about the talk-radio marketplace.
"All of the hoopla about Rush and Sean's radio careers coming to an end are really coming from political opponents, not from the radio industry," says Talkers.com website editor and publisher Michael Harrison, responding to media accounts in Politico and elsewhere that the radio megastars will be dropped by Cumulus stations at the end of the year.

Harrison said Cumulus will promote personalities like Michael Savage, who he says has tempered his performance amid concerns over being hyper-partisan to a more populist presentation, using softer subjects and more humor.

I can only take Savage in very small doses. I tire of his schtick after about ten minutes.
Savage? Really? The writer is off his meds too. No thanks.
rolling eyes
Michael Wiener is dead to me now.
It’s Sean the Bulldog that gets to me.
Oh good, talk radio needs more recipe and supplements chat.
Ditto.
I can listen to Hannity all day long but Savage? No thanks. If I want to be screamed at I can listen to the Nation of Islam or the Chinese women in the markets.
Cumulus is a liberal outfit. They must have had some pressure from their Obama overseer..........
Savage is only good in VERY small doses!
And they will also push Huckabee, who is only good during commercials!
NO THANKS!
He had a great fill-in host last night. Wish I’d tuned in sooner.
I was done with Sean Vannity after hearing him repeatedly call libs his “good friends”...
Just another limp New York Weiner.
Apparently, Hannity can be friends with people who don't share his ideas. Go figure.
I crossed him off my list quite a while ago. He was on the radio for a while. I like what he said often but .... a little of Wiener goes a long way.
That's precisely my attitude.I sometime think that if he were to take a mild tranquilizer he'd be worth listening to but,as you said....small doses.
I predict this will lead to bankruptcy for Cumulus Media, as their problems go much deeper than two talk hosts.
That said, the day is coming when conservative talk radio will need fresh blood. It most assuredly will not be Savage, or probably not even Levin. Hannity’s repetitive sing-song mantra has worn thin on most for a decade now, and who in their right mind actually thinks he is bringing in new people to the conservative cause? It’s all about money - for him.
Rush has all the money he’ll ever need and is at the age when health or life issues could result in retirement almost any time. He can certainly continue doing what he does as long as he chooses to, his demographics are those of a mature, steady, repeat audience (what the radio industry calls “cumulative”) - vs. being the hot new thing that people flock to be a part of.
Clear Channel has good solid AM talkers in LA, SFO, and NYC to move Sean and Rush to, but Chicago is the wild card. All CC owns there is a couple of weak FM outlets, and talk rivals WGN and WIND may not be able or willing to ante up the big bucks needed to put Rush on a 50 kilowatt blowtorch. If not, that could represent the beginning of the end, and of whatever comes next.
Savage plays a lot better when you realize “Michael Savage” is a fictional character, and the show is a seamless parody of conservative talk.
