I had a hoodie before Tray was born....It's a damn sweatshirt with a hood...in lieu of a jacket and very washable.

In Tray's world, a hoodie is just that....something a hoodie wears to disguise himself.

Fits with the rest of the “collection”.

This is about the legendary tall-tale that is Trayvon Martin (TM), not the real person himself. The historical revisionists got an early start on this one.

Lonnie Bunch, director of the Smithsonian's

A quick trip to Wikipedia shows Lonnie from Chicargo. His last job before moving to DC was director of the "Chicago Historical Society".

Something you should know!

So, now it's going to be the "Shawl of Trayvoon," then in their ongoing efforts to re-write history, and try and change the simple and direct facts of this case.

Trayvon Martin made a conscience decision to assault George Zimmerman. Apparently because he did not like the way Zimmerman was looking at him. He broke his nose, knocked him to the ground, and then climbed on top and was pummeling Zimmerman. Zimerman had the injuries and the scuff marks consistant with that.

Trayvon Martin had the bruises to his knuckles and scuff marks on his knees consistant with his part in the assault. His only other injury was a single bullte wound, shot at close range and the bullet traveling up through his chest.

The fact is, until the point of Martin's assault, no crime had been committed by either side. None.

As Martin continued to attack Zimmerman, and as Zimmerman called out for help in a terrified voice, he ultimately came to the conclusion that he was apt to die at the hands of Trayvon Martin.

At that point, the 6'2", healthy and strong youth was a potential murder, and an active criminal assaulting a citizen. Plain and simple. Whether he was 16, 24, 38 or 50. Does not matter. George Zimmerman was in danger of losing his life.

So he used his gun and shot Martin dead.

Classic case of self defense. That's all this is, and all it ever was.

Does not matter if Zmmerman was white, black, brown, red or yellow. Does not matter f MArtin was balck, white, red, brown or yellow.

One individual person was beating another individual person mercilessly and ended up being shot for it.

George Zimmeman is not guilty, he is innocent of any wrong doing.

For stating these direct, and simple truths, the race baiters, leftists, rabal rousers, etc. will shrilly call me racist, a right wing bigot, etc., etc. when nothing could be further from the truth.

That is the issue. The truth and getting it out there for all to see and understand. What they do with it is their affair...but it does not, and ever will, change the simple and direct facts of the case.

This is just infuriating! The already forgotten murder of Kelly Hunnewell in Columbia SC was committed by three black youths wearing hoodies? The surveillance video doesn’t lie. I bet her four children will appreciate seeing the Shroud of Trayvon hanging in a museum someday.

Is the grievance industry trying to create a racial Shroud of Turin?

"Racial Shroud of Turin"? - I freaking love it. (Pausing to wipe coffee off screen.) That, or poster carriage_hill's "Shroud of Trayvon" should be used in any newspaper comments to put this gambit in a proper perspective.

Just when you think they can't pander any further . . . Next, no doubt, will be vials of blood that liquify on the anniversary of his shooting - or perhaps a painting of St. Skittles with a bottle of "tea" in one and hand a bag of you-know-what in the other.

Once you start thinking along this line, the parodies are endless.

I’m sure that the Martin family would be more than happy to SELL the hoodie to the Smithsonian for a couple of million.

They are taking this to such a ridiculous level that they have trivialized the whole incident. Doing more harm than good.

From what I gather at the site, the National Museum of African American History and Culture is only part of the National Museum of American History and not it’s own building. Answers the question of how they expect any visitors to speak of at all.

I wouldn’t care to see any of the items mentioned in the original article. There’s so much to see at The Smithsonian already, how do they expect to compete with other exhibits? Will school field trips be directed there?

""It became the symbolic way to talk the Trayvon Martin case. It's rare that you get one artifact that really becomes the symbol," Bunch told the newspaper. "Because it's such a symbol, it would allow you to talk about race in the age of Obama."

"Bunch, who has acquired a guard tower from Louisiana's Angola State Penitentiary and the handcuffs used to restrain Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. in 2009, said he'd like to have the hoodie for his collection once the legal case is over."

This guy is a racist. What of the symbol of blacks who felt Martin was a punk who stole jewelry. Maybe they could add a heap of jewelry found in Martin's backpack.

Maybe they could display the drink, the skittles and the Robitussin Martin used to get high. Maybe they could display his facebook photos. Maybe they could get a lifesize wax statue of Rachel Jeantel - accompanied by some recordings of her testimony. After all, she WAS the last person to talk with him before he was shot.

You know, to include some things to make the display not so one-sided and racist.
