>Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a Republican lawmaker told one Capitol Hill newspaper last week that conservatives pushing to stop the implementation of Obamacare had no plan B.
Before diving into the substance of the criticism, lets spend a minute on how that criticism was delivered. Folks in Washington love speaking on the condition of anonymity. In a meandering profile of NBC Newss Luke Russert, a reporter for the liberal New Republic wrote, Fellow reporters related the meanest anecdotes they could think ofbut not for attribution, OK?
For one reason or another, these reporters have decided criticizing Russert wasnt a savvy career move. From that perspective, you can understand why this GOP lawmaker would not want to publicly denounce a strategy that has the support of folks like Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX), Mike Lee (R-UT), Rand Paul (R-KY) and Marco Rubio (R-FL). You can imagine this lawmaker running into trouble back home after saying Cruz, Lee, Heritage Action and the others have a laudable goal, but I aint gonna help them fight.
If Republican lawmakers are not willing to fight the implementation of Obamacare by actively defunding the law, they must have another plan to stop it, right? I posed variations of this question to numerous folks over the past week and the answer was nearly unanimous: stunning silence.
Yesterday, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) cautioned against swinging for fences and offered there are more effective ways we think that we can do better by delaying this law.
Delay. Defund. Repeal. Halt. Block. Stop.
Absent a legislative strategy, those are just words. In a must read piece, Heritage Actions Russ Vought explained the political strategy:
It is wonderful that Congressmen support repealing Obamacare, but its not enough. The House has had numerous votes to repeal Obamacare, but the chances of statutorily repealing the law decreased once President Obama won a second term. Conservatives cannot wait another three-and-a-half years to begin dismantling Obamacare; they need to leverage current opportunities to defund Obamacare on must-pass spending bills.
He also explained, contrary to the assertions of many people who should know better, the implementation of Obamacare could be stopped on a spending bill:
Defunding Obamacare means attaching a legislative rider to a must pass bill (debt limit, annual spending bill, etc.) that 1) prohibits any funds from being spent on any activities to implement or enforce Obamacare; 2) rescinds any unspent balances that have already been appropriated for implementation; and 3) turns off the exchange subsidy and new Medicaid spending that are on auto-pilot.
Senator Cruz and Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA) have introduced legislation that would accomplish those goals. If that is swinging for the fences, then sign me up because fighting to preserve the status quo isnt going to inspire the American people or save the country.
Unfortunately, that is exactly what some are advocating lets wait until 2017. Charles Krauthammer wrote, You cant govern from one house of Congress. You need to win back the Senate and then the presidency.
Lets flip Washingtons conventional wisdom upside down.
Instead of proclaiming with certainty that President Obama would never sign a bill that harmed his signature legislative accomplishment, imagine the pundits proclaiming that House Republicans would never pass a bill that funds a law they were elected to reverse.
Right now, however, almost no one in Washington and more importantly no one outside of Washington believes House Republicans are willing to mount a massive assault against the implementation of Obamacare. Until they do, theyll be on the outside looking in.
Over August, Heritage Action will be traveling across the country to make the case against Obamacare. The Washington Post noted Democrat-aligned groups already are responding aggressively. They are preparing to go on the offensive over August, deploy[ing] every tool and tactic available to defend Obamacare and put Republicans on the defense.
Obamas allies understand the fight is now. Will our allies wake up before its too late?
Collapse is just a bonus. There won’t be anything to rebuild, at least the way you and I see it. To fedzilla, they can rebuild without that pesky constitution thing in the way after a collapse.
See my tagline...
There is no big fight because these scum pols don't care about the people. They are owned by the elites who want this fiasco. I'm so serious - if you can find a place in the world outside of here go because this IS going to be a freedom-less society in 10 yrs.
Also anyone that doesn’t think exactly the way the gov’t says we should will be reported as mentally ill by their Drs. and have their guns taken away.
We will finally all be equal..................equally poor.
>>>This is the Obamunist version of Aktion T4. <<<
I’ve been thinking the same thing for a long time, too. Apparently in the American form of totalitarianism, the genocide occurs in a friendly and cheerful manner, with happy women owning their private uterine enclaves and preventing others from gaining a foothold, all unseen, and the next step will be clean and comfortable hospices where the elderly are served toxic and painless cocktails by smiling doctors and nurses, while the official community mouthpieces laud voluntary euthanasia as a way to hold down costs and reduce the footprint of humanity on the fragile ecosystem. I suppose the next steps will be suicide assistance for the infirm and depressed. It will always be promoted as a “choice.”
In any case, wherever the left takes hold, genocide follows. Ours is just distinctly American. God help us.
Panic. Riots. Martial Law. The nation will be brought to crisis and order restored under the heel of emergency executive powers. Just like Ayn Rand and Yuri Bezmenov predicted.
Of course I could be overreacting.
We don’t need a “Plan B.” We need to eliminate Obamacare before it ruins health care, and bankrupts the productive classes.
If they start paying subsidy, it will never go away.
In California, the Govt mandated that earthquake insurance be offered. So we are offered (happily not mandatory) earthquake insurance. Like any Govt mandate/program it is a disaster. High cost, high deductible, low coverage.
I look at the Calif earthquake insurance terms and think...”is this some kind of joke?”
We have a monopoly Govt. How well has that turned out?
Monopoly Govt healthcare?
After all competition is eliminated, what do you do when it sucks and is mandatory?
The USSA is not circling the drain anymore.
It is fast tracking its way to the septic tank.
"Plan B" was standing on a gallows with a noose around your neck...
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
I agree, game over.
A new Revolution is needed.
The Constitution went out the window completely starting with the New Deal.
Exactly.
The “end game” for you to die and for your assets to be seized. Now...shut up and get to work.
Would that be the mentally ill, that have a new liberal name and cause, "the homeless", or are the undesirables you and me who did not vote for BO and are against Ocare and big government?
Let me put it this way: the regime will use armor and armed storm troopers to confiscate the food stores of those in suburbia to feed the cooperative vermin in the inner cities. If needed, these inner city denizens can be quickly mustered into an armed force for ‘clearing’ the suburban neighborhoods. Given that, which would you guess are the ‘undesirables’ in obamaroid/holder calculus?
