Politico’s Dylan Byers, in a piece for his buddies in the MSM, declares that conservative criticism of the mainstream media is overblown. Byers writes:
So often conservative media, like conservative media criticism, can't be taken seriously because it overplays its hand. Like someone who shouts "thief!" the second his keys go missing, much of the conservative echo-chamber has a hyper-aggressive penchant to see conspiracy where they'd do better to see questions in need of answers. As a general rule -- albeit with plenty of exceptions -- there is a guilty-until-proven-innocent approach among those who fashion themselves as "anti-MSM," which can cloud the evidence-gathering process.
Byers quotes The Atlantic's Conor Friedersdorf, calling him a “member of the up-and-coming post-movement conservative crew.” Friedersdorf wrote:
Effective media criticism must be specific and accurate. As noted, I have no doubt that there are any number of problems with "MSM" coverage of Benghazi. But a refusal to take the story seriously isn't one of them. The notion that the story has been ignored is fantastical and discrediting. The notion that the entire "MSM" is engaged in a coverup is idiotic. And when your overall media narrative is wrong, your media criticism is going to suffer. Insofar as people like me tuned out the story, it is largely because so much of the conservative commentary was implausible, right from the first time that Mitt Romney accused his opponent of sympathizing with the terrorists.
Consider the referral to Friedersdrof, who was an intern for Andrew Sullivan, as a “conservative” source. As Mediate wrote of Friedersdorf in 2010:

Has the MSM answered the question; "Where was 0bama and what was he doing the night of the attack?" No, they haven't even tried to. Was that specific and accurate enough?

2) No rescue mission was attempted.

3) 0bama turned his back on 41 State Dept. and CIA employees refusing to issue a CBA command and went to bed so he could go to Las Vegas the next day.

The media has learned well from BO. The proverbial straw dog was been erected yet again: this time it is ‘media cover-up’. Noone has suggested a cover-up by the media. The accusation directed at the ‘media’ is there has been no UN cover-up, which is their job description.

So this guy admits he “tuned out on this story” but chastises conservative Media for trying to get to the truth. As my feeble memory recalls, the Establishment Media was engaged in promoting our PINO’s propaganda about it all started cuz of that anti-muslim video... Yup, that’s some mighty fine reporting from Trusted Establishment Media.
What I wouldn’t give for that vigilant Media we had back in the days of George W Bush - talk about “guilty until proven innocent”...although I think W was a train wreck for our country as well. It’s just ratcheting up exponentially under Soeotoro.
They did however ignore their responsibility as journalists in favor of access, free cocktail parties, and patronage. Afetr all, the Obama senior staffers all are related to the heads of ABC, NBC, and CBS.

The MSM did NOT ignore Benghazi.....they BURIED it.
Numbers, jerk. (The author, not you, Nachum!). Lets see facts. Number of days above the fold on the NYT about Abu Ghraib (panties on head, prisoners mocked) and Benghazi (ambassador and navy seals left for many hours to be tortured and murdered). That would be ONE EXAMPLE of the kind of facts we need to find out just WHOSE narrative is patently wrong at the outset.
Has the MSM answered the question; "Did the administration know beforehand that the consulate in Benghazi was going to be attacked?" No, they haven't even tried to find out. Was that specific and accurate enough?

Keep in mind also that if this is true, then Obama’s main surrogate for the matter on the Sunday talk shows, UN Ambassador Susan Rice (who said on these shows that the whole thing was NOT a pre-planned Al Qaeda operation but merely a movie protest spun out of control), spent the entire day today either lying through her teeth as it is simply impossible to believe that she went on these shows with no approval of her talking points by the White House, or the White House, hoping they could ultimately hide the truth from everybody, including her, lied to her and said they had no evidence indicating Al Qaeda when in fact they had these intercepted communications…
I could do this all day long, Dylan Byers, and still have more serious un-answered questions to post.
