Steve Stockman (Texas, 36th District) has responded to Ted Cruz challenge to House Republicans by filing a 19 point resolution to defund ObamaCare. Mr. Steve Stockman is not afraid of a fight.
I applaud the dozen Republican Senators who sent a letter to Majority Leader Reid explaining they will not vote for any continuing resolution that funds ObamaCare. But as Senators Ted Cruz and Mike Lee have said, The House must refuse to fund Obamacare because every appropriations bill originates in the House and the House is the only chamber that Republicans control. My resolution includes 19 whereas statements that make a compelling case for House Republicans to simply keep their pledge to defund ObamaCare. For example, the resolution recites our oath of office, our party platforms plank, and our Speakers public promises.
Stockman cited the public perception and added, Polls show a growing majority of Americans, and a super-majority of Texans, oppose ObamaCare. If Senate Democrats and President Obama choose to partially and temporarily shut down the government over ObamaCare, Republicans can and will win that staring contest so long as they dont blink first. I know whereof I speak because I was in the House when Congressional Republicans went toe to toe with President Clinton in 1995. There are no more excuses for House Republicans to be a part of what Senator Cruz dubbed the Surrender Caucus.
America, Steve Stockman likes to fight and he is fighting for you. I reported two days ago that he has taken the Obama Birth Certificate fight upon his broad shoulders. Who else would have accepted that fight? We have been waiting 4 1/2 years for someone to step forward. Steve Stockman is the real deal. He is fearless and he surely isnt afraid of Mr. John Boehner,

DEFUND socialist/totalitarian collectives, foreign and domestic. Live free republic.

I jus sent off an other e mail to my congressman. This is the gist of it:
We need no rhetoric, if it takes shutting down the government to get rid of Obamacare do it. This is what will happen otherwise. Anyone actually working for a living now will lose their employer healthcare and be shunted off to the exchanges. They MAY be given a stipend for the portion the employer used to pay BUT that stipend will be taxed as ordinary income, in other words, a tax increase. Their new policy will be more expensive and provide less coverage. A loser for the worker. Our county is considering this right now for its employees.
Passing feel good or look good bills is nice but now is when the rubber meets the road. So, defund Obamacare. This is the last chance to get any change to its anti worker/achiever concepts. If not, representatives already are facing opposition in primaries on this issue even if it means voting for an other party in the general.
Defund, repeal and abolish all Federal Medical programs.
I assume you mean Medicare? The time to stop that one was in 1965...50 years later one may as well try to stop the tide. That is why it is so important we dont back down on Obamacare now and we not let the GOP weasels get away with a tacit get along of the program while uttering protestations which are meaningless except to garner votes.
Rush said it best in response to a call a few years ago when the caller said he wanted Obamacare to pay for his medical. Rush said, why not just go ask your neighbors to pay for it. The caller said, they won’t want to pay for it. Rush said and neither do I!
That is a sweet letter to your guy, but we need to get tough on them and
1. Remind them of their oath to the Constitution!
2. They took that oath voluntarily.
3. The Constitution lays out 17 specific things they are allowed to do as the Federal gov.
4. ObamaCare is not one of them, they must vote to defund because of their oath to the Constitution.
5. later we can use this to start getting rid of other stuff not allowed.
I mean really when was the last time they defended our liberty? Instead of chaining us up as slaves?
This guy in particular gnaws on me. He is in a very red district and knows he is safe from the dems here. Unfortunately no conservative has stepped up to the plate to take him on as he has everyone fooled as he votes with bonehead 100% of the time.
The drive-by media gives all its attention to McLame and his effem friend, Graham. The Tea Party is growing stronger and stronger without media help. We will shock them next election.
She didn't have much to say after that, will pass it on to the Congressman.
It is nice to see that some few members of the Republican Party actually have some brains.
The US Federal Government was set up to GOVERN.
Medical and Insurance concerns are NOT the concern of the US Federal Government, but the concern of re-distribution politicians who are the reason that we now have a damned US Federal Government.
Currently 40 % of the money spent by the damned US Federal Government is borrowed from your Grandchildren’s descendants.
As long as Bernanke keeps the interest rates low, the compounding of debt-interest will remain moderate.
When the inevitable inflation hits, interest rates will rise to Market values, and most of the money that the damned US Federal government will be spending will be on interest payments to US Bond holders.
Thus, starting with abolishing Obama’care,’ the abolition of the rest of the Federal Welfare Debt Centers needs to begin now.
Financial strength will return to all while abolishing (privatizing) Medicare, Medicaid, Aid to Dependent Children, Food Stamps, Disability Payments, Aid to Education, (especially “free” school lunches), and all the rest of our sorry Federal Welfare Debt Programs until the Social Security System is finally abolished, forever.
Or, we could just sit on our hands and wait for the Financial Market to do to the USA what it did to Detroit.
BTW, guess which course of action has already been chosen by Speaker of the House John “Cave-In” Boehner?
I agree with most of your commentary, especially the conclusion about where we are going to be financially unless we rein in the powers of the central government to what it was set up to do originally which was outlined in the preable to the founding document: form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty.... In fact these precepts were limited. No where does it say govern, which now means rule, it simply compiled areas in which it was felt states could not do for themselves under the Articles of Confederation, either economically or strategically i.e. defense.
They did not want a King, ruler or sovereign, which is what we have now. In fact with Obama as President, or king, and the Senate, as princes, and the representatives as dukes, we have a constitutional monarchy by defacto IMO. The courts are the Jesters.
All powers not granted to the federal government are reserved to the states or people. Today, nothing is reserved for the people who are just surfs in this land. The federal, er feral, government is supreme in a God like manner. So to me rather than to begin by dismantling things
the first order of battle is to stop any more give aways from taking place. Once that is accomplished, then move on to taking out all the programs and removing them by the roots. This will be as long a road as it was to get here I fear as it will not happen overnight unless there is a successful revolution or secession. I hate to use a metaphor attributed to commie Mao but the journey of a 1000 miles begins with the first step.
Thanks for your very thoughtful reply.
One point needs further discussion, as follows.

Pardon this editing of your sentence, “ - - - This will be as long a road as it was to get here I fear as it will not happen overnight - - - “ but financial Markets are rarely that symmetrical.
A long build up and a long decline are rare, whereas as a sudden decline is the usual pattern.
Currently, the Baby-Boomer Generation has lost 30 % of its net worth in the bursting of the Federal Housing Bubble in 2008. That was 5 years ago.
In similar manner the Student Debt (”Loan”) Bubble will burst suddenly at the worst possible time, and “surprise” the gullible (Media) and the evil (politicians).
The advocacy of State Control (Communism) by Communist-trained B. Hussein Obama has telescoped history so that individual States are giving serious consideration to the idea of Succession from the damned US Federal Government.
A very good effect of a shut down of our sorry Federal Government would be pause to consider why our vaunted Constitutional “Checks and Balances” failed to self correct the Federal takeover of a very poorly managed system of Government.
Steve Stockman Accepts Ted Cruzs Challenge To Defund Obamacare In The House Of Representatives
Check out article, then # 12 , # 13.
Thanks, Graewoulf.
That’s my congressman and my senator. At least I’m represented well.
Thanks, Graewoulf.
I think we should not discuss the financial markets and the federal budget fiasco in the same vein. IMO, the debt does not have much to do with the loss of house hold income, down 10% in a few years and the crash of the real estate markets. The debt bomb and the declining purchasing power of each household are like two trains running toward each other on the same track. I know we have to do something with the student debt as it will be heaped upon the taxpayers one of these days too. However, our last chance to do away with Obamacare is now or we are going to heap another few trillion in debt upon the nation which will lead to both a financial melt down and taxes at confiscatory levels.
The threat of secession also needs to be in the mix. What power do the states now have if they don’t make mention of that or a rewrite of the constitution itself which I believe may backfire anyway. There is one more shoe to fall, actually it is falling already but has not hit the floor: the removal of the US Dollar as the world’s medium of exchange. When that happens, we are done because the only thing proping it up now is the demand for dollars to underpin world trade. The most recent example I can think of what happens was when the pound sterling lost that role,
England began a downward spiral which they never recovered from.
Frankly, I think we are screwed no matter what happens now as it is just a matter of time before we reap the harvest we have sowed.
This is the RINO "Dirty BIG Secret." They harrumph and harraugh in a very conservative manner because every once in a while they think they have to look good. But they have traded compliance with the default party's wishes in exchange for extremely lucrative safe seats.
Republicans have accepted permanent "Loyal Opposition" status. That is, they will do as the leadership tells them for a cut of the swag for delivery to the special interests that support them. When the Republicans have a majority, they actually have no idea what to do except wait out the inconvenience until they can get back to business as usual.
Bitch about Obama all we want. It's the Republican enablers that give him power at our expense.
