KENNEALLY: The IRS as kingmaker - Tax agency is well suited for use as a political weapon
Washington Times ^ | Aug 15, 2013 | By Ivan Kenneally

President Obama’s bewildering response to the mounting Internal Revenue Service scandal has been to simply deny there is a scandal, dismissively labeling it “phony.” He seems confident that in a moral version of rock-paper-scissors, denial always beats accusation, irrespective of the freight of evidence behind it.

This has been the top-down strategy for partisan Democrats from the beginning. As head of the exempt organizations unit in Washington, Lois Lerner casually insisted any wrongdoing was fully attributable to a few “line people in Cincinnati” who were “not so fine.” Now we’ve learned from the testimony of IRS lawyer Carter Hull that not only was the political targeting not confined to Cincinnati, but that it occurred under the pointed direction of Ms. Lerner.

It is flatly incredible that the partisan gamesmanship is contained to the IRS’ internal machinations. Mr. Hull’s testimony, which would be considered explosive in a parallel world with a press equally attentive to both parties’ shenanigans, revealed that Ms. Lerner funneled all those conservative and Tea Party applications up to IRS Chief Counsel William Wilkins. Mr. Wilkins was appointed to his post by Mr. Obama. I’m assuming the two have chatted here and there about the IRS’ directives, if not electoral politics.

While this is a genuinely disturbing scandal, it’s also genuinely predictable. Why wouldn’t the IRS’ purportedly apolitical mission be disfigured for political gain? The agency has vast, amorphously delimited powers to regulate commerce, purloin private and commercial funds, grant or withhold licensing, and instigate criminal investigations and prosecutions. All of these functions require an unmatched ability to collect massive storehouses of data on American citizens. Paradoxically, this unseemly amalgam of power and impunity is constitutionally certified by the 16th Amendment.

And now Obama’s all set to use this criminal agency to go after you via your most private health records. This will not work out well.

Every agency of the national government was on-call to assist the 2012 Obama campaign.

The rats do not intend to relinquish power. 2012 was just a warm up for future outrages. If the GOP was an opposition party and actually gave a rip about our republic, several Obama appointees would be in prison entertaining their new husbands.

The rats have dossiers on every possible, national opponent. Unless things change real soon, the GOP opponent in 2016 will the one the rats choose.

Of course it is. That is why it should never be allowed to be used is such a way.

>> to go after you via your most private health records

Well this is the irony, isn’t it; all the bipartisan complaints about privacy violations with far less concern about the intrinsic nosiness of Obamacare.

Proof why we need to dismantle the income tax and replace it with FairTax (H.R. 25/S. 122). The very fact the income tax code can be used to favor or punish as little as ONE taxpaying entity is why it should be done post-haste.

Nully’s modest proposal to limit the IRS:

1. Eliminate ALL corporate tax.
1a. Eliminate ALL depletion allowances and depreciation allowances.
1b. Eliminate ALL price supports.
2. Eliminate ALL current IRS regulations.
3. Set the individual tax rate at 10% regardless of income.
3a. Perquisites at taxed at 10% of cost.
3b. Withhold at the rate of 11%, to get a refund you have to file taxes, but there is no legal imperative to file.
4. Tax ALL money coming into the country at 0% (yes, ZERO%).
5. Tax ALL money leaving the country at 10%.

Nully’s modest proposal to eliminate the IRS:

1. 10% federal sales tax on all retail sales.
2. 10% tax on the wholesale (invoice) price of all imported goods.
2a. Alternately, tax ALL money leaving the country at 10%.
3. No taxes on any exported goods.
3a. Alternately, tax ALL money coming into the country at 0% (yes, ZERO%).

wow. that is a good plan .

much better than the current communist progressive , oppressive IRS taxes and regime I thought of a very similar plan(only in my head). but in my plan the income tax is totally eliminated and only tariffs and sales taxes allowed that's it the only 2 kind of taxes any gov can impose on Americans. I also added the elimination of property taxes as that is also communism ( rent to the government as you really don't own your land). all we need are basically sales taxes and especially on imports. this is what the USA government ran on for 200 years mostly on tarrifs. only during the progressive era of the early 19th century did they introduce the income tax ( the 16 th) amendment. starve the beast (gov) . abolish the income tax totally.

I intended them as either/or, not both.

But even both would still be an improvement!

Wait until IRS and the government start blackmailing you over some item in your past health records, comrade.

Health records will be more damaging than tax returns guaranteed.

My FRiends, this is outrageous but there IS something you can do starting right now...

Do NOT watch their channels.

Do NOT buy their Newspapers or Magazines.

Do NOT give them a dime, buy anything they advertise or sell to make money.
