A 50-year-old divorcee with three children who earns $47,100 a year would be faced with an annual health insurance premium of $11,140. However, since her household income is only 200 percent of the FPL for a family of four, she would receive a subsidy of $8,172 to keep her insurance cost to 6.3 percent of her income, or $2,967.
Our single mom meets a 56-year-old man who makes $63,000 a year and pays an annual premium of $7,041 with no subsidy because his income exceeds 400 percent of the FPL for an individual.
As long as the two remain unwed — even if they choose to cohabit — they will pay a total of $10,008 in insurance premiums each year, with taxpayers picking up the rest of the tab. But if they decide to tie the knot, their combined income will make them both ineligible for a subsidy, and they will therefore have to pay the full cost of their insurance, which will now come to $18,181 a year, or 16.5 percent of their income.
At most, only two million married couples (out of nearly 60 million married couples in the country) are projected to benefit from the health insurance tax credit in any year through 2021. Almost half of the beneficiaries of the tax credit will be unmarried individuals without dependent children.

$20,000 for insurance per year is just plain stupid.
You can afford to cover quite a bit of health care costs over 10 years and you would be totally in charge of your decisions .
I would laugh at that government program if it weren’t for that middle class family that is now being separated from 8 thousand more dollars of their hard earned income.
And a fair share of them will be small business, and they’ll make up the difference by cutting jobs.

They might be able to sign up folks that qualify for lots of subsides, but it will be difficult to sign up anyone that is close to the subsidy limit. Healthy people making between 60-100k will not sign up unless they get sick; the “insurance” bite will be too big.
All the propaganda in the world will not prevent people from acting in their best proximate financial interests. Sure, drones can make an emotional decision when it comes to voting, but parting with money for ideological reasons will not happen to any great extent.

As I was typing I was thinking of all the other taxes we pay for medical care of all sorts without ObamaCare® and wonder “will we be paying those taxes in addition to this asinine and fascistic dictated?”.

Don't know why one med jumped to $2400 per month.
Both of these people don't have a lot of cash.
