Journalist Michael Hastings, who was killed in a fiery Los Angeles crash in June, died of "traumatic injuries" as a result of the accident and had traces of drugs in his system, Los Angeles coroner's officials said Tuesday.

Hastings, 33, died June 18 in a single-vehicle accident. His car burst into flames and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Coroner's officials said Hastings had traces of amphetamine in his system, consistent with possible intake of methamphetamine many hours before death, as well as marijuana. Neither were considered a factor in the crash, according to toxicology reports.

And we all know amphetamines explode on contact with a tree.

No, but it's entirely possible that a car traveling at 80+ MPH at the time of such contact could.

This whole story stinks. This misleading headline by a pro-Obama rag makes it stink even more.

Was he upset about an “Anti-Islam YouTube video” right before his crash, too?

The article quotes the coroner as saying Hastings had traces of amphetamines in his system as well as traces of marijuana. But neither were considered a factor in the crash which makes th headline extremely misleading. But there is no bias at the LA Times. /s

A sharp freep turned up the LA coroner’s report, and the drug question appears real. However how relevant is it? OK he smoked pot. He’d once been on Ritalin, and had even taken DMT, a hallucinagen.

The report even raised the possibility that cocaine might be found in his apt, but how RELEVANT is it?

No drug was cited as a reason for the crash.

And then let’s say someone is realllllly stoned on pot —how much might it impair DRIVING..?

Libs are waving this around, plumber/rodeo style in their mounting desperation that there might be SOME earthly form of dastardliness that GayMuzzie is INNOCENT of.

SMELLS LIKE DESPERATION.

And that’s the other thing —early reports averred that Hastings had been racing at 80 mph, but explosion footage analysis puts the speed more at something like 35 mph.

RACING...?

In Bangkok rush-hour, 35 mph is still a MAYBE.

There’s a story out that the family was trying to get him into rehab. If he was doing meth, that could have definitely made him paranoid. I’ve also read that Hastings was not speeding at the time of the accident

However, just having traces of drugs in his system does not prove that he was not murdered, especially as the article states the drugs weren’t a factor in the accident. If not that, then what?

“No - Michael Hastings was pure! He was a saint! Liberal journalists never take drugs! I can’t hear you, I have my fingers in my ears! Conspiracy! conspiracy!”

Careful. Talk like that and they’ll start accusing you of being a government agent!

I see you conveniently skip over the part where he had METH in his system. That’s not your run of the mill recreational type drug, that’s hardcore. Most people with meth in their system, I think you can safely say are not in their right minds most of the time, even if they didn’t just smoke it before they got in the car. No?

Look, you sound just like Hastings' wife and relatives - "He was in a bad place, he was an addict."

These anonymous obsessives on the internet knew Hastings way better than his family did, obviously.

Only as "relevant" as believing the Coroner Report that Andrew Breitbart died because of "heart failure."

ANOTHER. BOGUS. Coroner. Report.

Possible meth. Ritalin and Aderall are both in the amphetamine family as are several other drugs. im not saying it wasn’t meth, just that it might not be.

Lol, right. I see you've conveniently arrived back at a Hastings Case thread in your usual role as an apologist for Statist-Hits-From-Mars.

Why should anyone believe this same kind of improbable BS shoveled on them when Breitbart was reported to have had a "heart attack"?

Now Hastings suddenly is a "METH-Head? And was a pipe the size of a saxophone found as well? And why not "heroin" AND "an Uzi"?

You STILL fail to explain why Hastings car blew up as though it'd been hit by tank mortar...

Nice try on the narrative, Boogie-Boy. This entire investigation AND Coroner Report rate an EPIC FAIL on credibility.
