CNN has only part of this story. Three teenage boys - 2 black and one white - apparently targeted an Austrialian citizen who was attending a local college in Oklahoma on a baseball scholarship for murder because they were "bored."
Chris Lane was walking down the road when the teens came up behind him and shot him in the back:
A random act of violence has left a promising 23-year-old college baseball player dead, a family devastated and two countries half a world apart rattled.
Christopher Lane, who was from Australia, was gunned down in Duncan, Oklahoma, while he was out jogging last week. The motive? Three teens who had nothing better to do, according to police.
"They witnessed a young man run by on the street. Chose him as the target," Police Chief Danny Ford told CNN affiliate KSWO.
Charges were filed Tuesday against the three teens. James Edwards Jr., 15, and Chancey Luna, 16, were charged as adults with felony murder in the first degree, according to Kaylee Chandler, Stephens County Court Clerk.
Michael Jones, 17, faces two charges -- use of a vehicle in the discharge of a weapon and accessory after the fact to murder in the first degree, she said.
A judge set bond at $1 million for Jones, while no bond was set for Edwards and Luna.
When police arrested the teens, one of them offered up a motive that made clear that Lane, who attended East Central University on a baseball scholarship, was chosen at random.
"He said the motive was, 'We were going to kill somebody,'" Ford told Australian radio station 3AW. "They decided all three of them were going to kill somebody."

How do they assume that? Completely at random, or the first random WHITE guy?
Are they so sure that one kid was “white”? Maybe he is a “White Hispanic”.

Ya got that right! Yesterday, after lots of lousy reports, I saw a pic of the supposed perps, and all three were definitely black. Now its back to 2 and 1.
One White guy? How do we know? Is Mariah Carey White?
The “white” culprit appears, to me, to be of mixed ancestry.

According to Larry Elder, he is (just like Obama ). But unlike Obama, the “White” melanin gene is dominant in his case.
Have a hunch that if the jogger had been black he would not have been chosen "completely at random" or otherwise.

I’m betting all the paperwork in his life l;eading up to this point lists him as black. I’ve only ever known one mixed race person in my life who considered himself to be white.

GOOD points. The term “random” was not one that could’ve been used by the murderers, instead, it’s how the cops characterized it, filtering whatever “explanations” the perp/perps provided them with. Would they have “thought twice” before killing him if they perceived the jogger to be black? I don’t know, but I think they would’ve let him be. The odds that it would be a white jogger out on the road are much higher, so by default, a “random” shooting would more likely be perpetrated on a white ANYWAY.
In our first look at what may have motivated the three teens accused of murdering Australian baseball player Chris Lane, we looked at the Facebook and Twitter feeds of James “Lilbuggy” Edwards. His social network posts suggest strong interests in rap and gang culture, and enjoyment of violent behavior.
In fact, new evidence says he’s a Crip.
Note the hashtags under the photo — they use both “Crip” and “cc,” which is a Crip affectation.
Lilkadda90 is one of Edwards’ rap associates. In the screencap above you can see Edwards request Lilkadda90 to post this photo on Facebook so he can tag it and make it his own wallpaper. That James Edwards is our James Edwards, the 15-year-old suspect in the murder of Chris Lane. He links the Twitter feeds “@Jamesakabug” in this profile, which was deleted late Tuesday night. It belongs to James Edwards. That Twitter feed also contains evidence that Edwards is a Crip: the frequent use of cc as seen above.
Here’s one instance. There are many others, enough so that it’s obviously intentional.
Edwards, the youngest of the accused at 15, treated Tuesday’s court hearing as a joke.
James Edwards, 15, was treating the murder as a joke, District Attorney Jason Hicks told a hearing in the town of Duncan on Tuesday (Wednesday morning AEST).
Mr Hicks told the court that Edwards has previously been in contact with police, and that he had “an attitude of total disregard for law enforcement” when he was being charged over Lane’s death.
“He thinks it’s funny, and it’s all a joke,” Mr Hicks said.
He had also been in court on Friday, the day of the killing, on an unrelated charge.
Let’s take a look at another of the suspect’s Facebook pages. Chancey Luna, the alleged trigger man, goes by the alias BabyDrake, according to his Facebook page.
Here he is, flashing gang signs with a friend. The photos was posted May 30, 2013.
James Edwards was there that day. He knows gang signs too.
