I, too, regret the reluctance to a) dispense justice in a timely manner and b) provide the morality lesson provided by a public hanging.
We can see what happens when minor crimes draw no consequences - crimes escalate to the point of threatening the community (proper use of the word that includes normal people).
Besides, it would be a ratings bonanza on cable - I'd watch these guys air dance.
