U.S. government sues to block vouchers in some Louisiana school systems

(Gov. Bobby Jindal shakes hands at a pro-voucher rally on the Capitol steps on Wednesday, May 15, 2013. On Aug. 22, the U.S. Department of Justice filed a petition to limit automatic participation in vouchers for districts operating under desegregation orders.)

The U.S. Justice Department is suing Louisiana in New Orleans federal court to block 2014-15 vouchers for students in public school systems that are under federal desegregation orders. The first year of private school vouchers "impeded the desegregation process," ...

-snip-

The statewide voucher program, officially called the Louisiana Scholarship Program, lets low-income students in public schools graded C, D or F attend private schools at taxpayer expense. This year, 22 of the 34 systems under desegregation orders are sending some students to private schools on vouchers.

-snip-

The Justice Department's primary argument is that letting students leave for vouchered private schools can disrupt the racial balance in public school systems that desegregation orders are meant to protect. Those orders almost always set rules for student transfers with the school system.

-snip-

State Education Superintendent John White took issue with the suit's primary argument and its characterization of the program. Almost all the students using vouchers are black, he said. Given that framework, "it's a little ridiculous" to argue that students' departure to voucher schools makes their home school systems less white, he said. He also thought it ironic that rules set up to combat racism were being called on to keep black students in failing schools.

-snip-

The case has been assigned to Judge Ivan Lemelle. He ruled in November that elements of Jindal's 2012 education overhaul were unconstitutional, because paying to implement the voucher program would hurt Tangipahoa Parish's ability to pay for the programs it uses to comply with its federal desegregation order.

Parental choice and school vouchers are the answer to the parent and studens' prayer. Only a fascist, 'progressive' control freak would object to that. Sorry, 'progressives': you cannot control the thoughts of every child everywhere, and cannot stop their parents from acting in their best interests. You do not always and automatically know better than everyone else, despite your clear and continuous notion, otherwise...and you cannot and will not ever control every person's life. Your dream's dead, and always has been. Is this yet another hill you wish to defend to the end? I thought not. When it comes to true confrontation you just haven't the guts for it.

If conservatives are looking for a culture-changing legislative battle that is WINNABLE, this is it.

And to hell with the Justice Department and their communist schools.

Vouchers are not part of the grand plan: Dumb down the populace, beat down the successful, collect all the riches from those who have worked, and dole out sustenance level rations to the serfs in tiny bits to keep them dependent on the emperor.

Preserving the teachers’ unions stranglehold on education is way more important to liberals than children. Unions win every time and they don’t want have a voucher system which shows how inept many of the teachers are.

From article:
The acronyms for America’s New World Order education are mind-numbing – all the better to keep you from connecting who is connected to who/whom/which. First, I have found one source that connects Common Core Initiative Standards (CCIS) to “Connect All Schools,” and that is on the “Connect All Schools” website page titled One World Education (OWE).

In Michigan the democrats are pushing something that might be good if it weren't a blatant attempt for unions to seize control. Fortunately it has zero chance of passage.

Senate Bill 461: Impose term limits on charter school boards

Introduced by Sen. Hoon-Yung Hopgood (D) on July 31, 2013, to impose five-year “term limits” on charter school board members (but not on members of conventional school boards), after which they would be prohibited from being on the board again for 10 years. The bill also would require at least two parents be on the charter board, impose attendance requirements, require there be at least seven members on the board, and more.

Until the courts got involved, schools were ran and financed locally. We would not need vouchers if control of the schools would be returned to local control (and elimination of teacher unions).

If locals controlled the curriculum perhaps they would go back to the basic and leave out social engineering.

Stupidity has been so instilled into America’s negroes by their Democrat masters that they are lost, perhaps forevermore.

Only a very small percentage move off the plantation which is not enough to help pull the rest out. Meanwhile, negro youth have descended into base instincts that have lain dormant in their genes for eons.

Blood sport and kill. Historically it has been each other, but today: preferably anyone who is shades lighter in skin color than they are. Drugs are fed into their ghettos by those who know full well they are lighting the fuse.

Meanwhile, the fool(s) that uttered those words “Diversity is America’s greatest strength” needs to be boiled in his own oil.

Meanwhile, your federal tax dollars are paying for the most expensive of private schools for the Obama darlings. No problem with that over at the “Justice” Department, I suppose.
