The Saudis (and Kuwaitis) needed someone to go up against Saddam to keep him from occupying their country. Ergo, we became their (defacto) Air Force.

But wait. They can have an intervention. Just have a bunch of Assad’s close pals sit down and confront him with his sad addiction to power, and explain how they care about him, but the war crimes will have to stop. Then he’ll resign, and the MB will take over Syria, and everything will be donkey-hoary.
