I disagree. It is the job of congress. No congressional approval - no military deployment.

U.S. military officers have deep doubts about impact, wisdom of a U.S. strike on Syria

Historical disgrace: mutiny of the U.S. military forced Obama to retreat

German economic news ¦ Published: 01.09.13, 02:51 | 306 Comments

US President Barack Obama had to call off the planned military strike against Syria apparently due to a massive mutiny in the US military leadership. The soldiers could recognize any of the President’s strategy—and massive objections against the action. Never, the soldiers in America have denied a President so openly allegiance.

The U.S. military denied US President Barack Obama (here with the Chief of staff, Admiral Michael Mullen and Defense Secretary Robert Gates in memory of 9 / 11) the following: Obama has spanned the arc in the fight against terror. His soldiers want to not pull in a war they don’t understand. (Photo: White House)

The surprising kick his Syria plans by US President Barack Obama is apparently due to a massive mutiny in the army.

The Washington Post reported that of the four star generals until the ordinary soldiers hardly see the benefits of military action driven by Obama.

The post reported that in particular a clear strategy is missing, what is it in the planned military strikes should happen the soldiers. Many U.S. soldiers have had bad experiences with the operations in the Iraq and Afghanistan. First heroic goals have been promised to them. But hardly were the interventions underway, were sent to the troops in new adventures . In both cases, there was no Exit strategy. The announcements to retreat from the battle zones were contradictory and retreated into the length.

Syria has not succeeded Obama, to convince the military of the sense of a military operation.

So far, the US military have always publicly silent and obey the commands of the military political leadership. Basis for the missions was mostly that succeeded the President, to convince that the respective use of “national security” serve the soldiers away.

In the case of Syria, Obama tried this term.

But his own soldiers don’t believe him.

Even more awkward for Obama: most of the officers and soldiers have a much clearer views of reality as their President and Commander-in-Chief.

Retired Lieutenant General Gregory S. Newbold of the post said: “politicians are naive about the obligations that exist in the foreign policy. Many are shockingly clueless about what a military operation can achieve.” Newbold was the leading cadres in the Iraq war. He said that many of his active colleagues share his deep concerns.

An officer who wanted to express themselves only anonymously, said: “I can’t believe it, that the President takes this step at all into consideration. In the past 10 years we have fought against insurgents. Syria has modern weapon systems. We would have to fight in a classic war .”

Already in the past week, General Martin Dempsey, the Chief of the Commander in Chief, had pointed to the mindlessness of the Obama administration. He said the broadcast on ABC: “The simple use of weapons, without a precise strategy, as the application is completed, probably never achieve the result that we imagine.”

General James Mattis said: “If the Americans actually perform a such usage, then that is a brutal, very, very serious war.”

Another active officer said: “what political end state we want to achieve? Ich do not know what it is. We say there should be no regime change. If there should be punishment there are other ways to punish someone.”

Many military leaders are also concerned because of the rapid disintegration of the anti-Syria Coalition leads to new tactical plans: without the British (here) surgery is different. The lukewarm support for the NATO gave also to think about the military. (Here), seems too little to many to rely only on France to be. And Turkey is eyed with suspicion anyway in the US military. You trust the President Erdogan does not have the path because the AKP is classified by many US elites as Islamist movement (here pursuing their own agenda).

The vacillation of Cyprusthat has made trouble at the last minute to Russian pressure, necessitated also logistical new designs - from the legal concerns aside (here).

Bilder wie dieses kursieren im Internet. Obwohl nicht gesagt werden kann, ob es sich hierbei um einen echten Soldaten handelt: Die Bereitschaft der US-Truppen zu kämpfen ist gering. (via @NewsNinja2012))
Images like this are circulating on the Internet. Although it cannot be said whether it is a real soldier: the readiness of U.S. troops to fight is low. (via @NewsNinja2012))

Other officers criticize the half-heartedness of the Insert. As planned by Obama, a military strike at the allies of the United States in the Middle East will give the impression that the Americans cannot seriously want to defend their interests in the region. The action will appear, that rockets be fired, just, so that something would be done.

Experienced officers refer in the post that the risk of a military strike was enormous. Just when, as the John Kerry unveiled Sunday, the poison gas sarin in use in Syria really is, a military strike could have a disastrous effect. With a cruise missile attack could created more problems than are solved.

The most active soldiers and military said explicitly that nothing further was them, as fall of the political leadership in the back.

The fact that they speak out at all and do not expire successfully fetched reflex of a simple patriotism after September 11, 2001 in the is all the more remarkable.

The war on terror seems in those who are sent for him in the fire, not more than motivation to catch. Most of the US soldiers can no longer understand what meaning have the geopolitical flares in their political leaders. You obviously have no desire to be sent as a world police force in more distant regions of the world.

The dissent coincides with the assessment of the American population: Only a small minority advocates a military strike.

For Obama, it will be difficult now to convince Congress . Because also the deputies to be skeptical over the action. 200 Members had signed a petition against the military action.

For the Congress also provides a problem called the soldiers as a reason for their rejection: the defence budget has been cut dramatically, because the US budget by the decades-long policy of debt is uncontrolled went out of control.

The mutiny of the army is a novelty in American history.

The pressure on Obama seems however in the past few days so great to have become, that he finally had to pull the plug and once again blow off the imminent use.

And so we are witnessing a phenomenon that could imagine many until recently: the mighty U.S. President declares war on a country. And his own soldiers say: “imagine: the President says there is a war, and nobody goes.”

Doesn’t sound like a mutiny to me.

It sounds like the people who spoke to Obama were a helluva lot smarter than he was and gave him some good advice.

Mutiny is when an order is given, and then it is refused to be obeyed. Not when someone gives good advice to an idiot.

\By the way if the idiot expects good advice from the traitor John Kerry he truly IS crazy.

This is a German take on it all and may be composed of supposition as to what the writer would have done were he the US generals.

And what Washington Post report?

This is indecipherable, and since a message of mutiny on the ground is highly unlikely to have been delivered to any US president, full of hot air.

Every DemocraT president since Carter has purged the military and reduced it so that the next time it is needed it has to be crash-rebuilt and new leaders found who can assess and fight on battlefields instead of at desks.
