Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak plans to travel to Chicago Thursday to unveil a print and digital ad campaign inviting gay couples to marry in his city in the wake of a new Minnesota law that opens the doors to such unions.
His announcement will be made at the Center on Halsted, a community center in Lakeview, the city's most high-profile gay neighborhood. It comes just three months after an attempt to bring gay marriage to Illinois died in the legislature.

He’s married, but, he’s always been a metro....
Welcome to The Twin(k) Cities.
Seriously gays, think about it. You wouldn't want to go back to such a "homophobic" state that it won't legalize gay marriage with a veto-proof RAT majority in the legislature? And all those mean nasty homophobic black Democrats (you know, the ones you refused to cover in the media because they didn't fit your stereotype of people who oppose gay marriage) will never accept your marriage. Do you really want to share the city with people who think that way? You better punish Mike Madigan and Rahm Emanuel for their failure to get this done.
I've been there, brief stay but I liked it, seemed nice. It was summer though. Chi winters are bad but MN is worse.
As an Illinois resident, this is the best idea I've heard since the proposal to put the Obama presidential library in Hawaii (ideally at the leper colony in Molokai).
LOL! Well I'm all for it! The recent pride parade was a nuisance to my family.
The good people of Minneapolis are not being served well by a mayor that is out promoting homosexuality. With gang violence out of control downtown, and on the north side, I would think they should request their mayor stay in the office and run the city.
If he wants to further his homo agenda, he should do it on his own time.
