It has everything to do with Obama care. Companies are being shielded from the consequences of their earlier bad decisions and represents a breach of trust between them and the employees they agreed to provide insurance for.

You can't criticize companies for making "bad decisions" when it comes to medical insurance. Medical insurance is always getting more expensive because advances in medicine and medical care result in more complex and expensive treatments. How can a company like IBM make long-ranging decisions about retiree insurance coverage when nobody has any clue about what will constitute "standard medical care" in four or five years -- let alone in four or five decades?
