I think its been going on for a whole lot longer than that. I have personally believed that it explains the massive ammunition buys of our government.

My suspicion when I put on my tin-foil hat is that Stephens in Libya was channeling stingers and special weapons to the Syrian al Qaeda, he knew it since he was an Obama stooge or he wouldn’t have been in the position, and part of the covert plan he didn’t know was that he and all who knew were to be offed.
Especially after the massive buy of ammo in a caliber the US government doesn't even use.
I don't remember the exact caliber that had everyone scratching their heads. Anyone?
Of course it has; I recall seeing reports in the first month of the conflict discussing Russian intelligence set up on the border supplying to Assad, with their US counterparts funnelling to the "resistance". Don't recall the source, but the US source (off the record, of course) said they were not the source of the arms, just making sure the arms got to groups that were not radical terrorists. THis might be technically true; they were probably funnelling arms that we paid for, supplied by other regional partners so they weren't traced to us, and making sure they were given to groups that we chose. It is extremely naive to think we have not had a presence in the region from day one.

This could still mean that Syria was all BS just a ruse to get them throuhg untill the debt ceiling. IMHO, its all about zero not getting impeached.
7.62X39 (AK, SKS, etc) and 9X18 (Makarov) are east bloc ammo, and that's part of the recent purchases. Unless Duh-1 is arming his private army with East Bloc weapons here at home, and not just .40s and mil spec US stuff, the East Bloc ammo has likely been going to the terrorists.
