1 in 4 Men Surveyed in Asia and the Pacific Have Raped (PC Barfing Orgy)

One in four men surveyed for a United Nations study in Asia and the Pacific admitted raping at least one woman.

The UN Multi-country Study on Men and Violence in Asia and the Pacific surveyed over 10,000 men at nine sites in six countries: Bangladesh, China, Cambodia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and Sri Lanka. At the survey site in China, 23 percent of men admitted to at least one rape. In Papua New Guinea, that figure was 61 percent.

To understand what's behind such startling figures, National Geographic spoke with Rachel Jewkes, the lead technical adviser for the study.

You've studied rape extensively in South Africa and now across Asia and the Pacific. How did you get involved in this kind of research?

I moved out to South Africa from England in 1994. I had a job to set up the women's health research unit in the South African Medical Research Council. I was told that the key issues in women's health were things like teenage pregnancy, so I said, "Okay, I'm willing to do research on teenage pregnancy, but as part of this work I want to talk to teenagers about how they got pregnant." We interviewed 24 pregnant teenagers. Twenty-three out of the 24 told us stories about being raped. I had absolutely no idea that sexual violence was a phenomenon that could have this sort of prevalence.

That's a rather audacious statement to make, even for one as politically correct as the National Pornographic. I, as a white male, find it very difficult to believe as outrageous a statement as 1 in 4 Asian men surveyed admitted to raping at least one woman as reported by the all-too objective UN in a study regarding rape. That alone renders any conclusion regarding men, moot. White men preferably, but Asian men will do nicely. As I said, in finding the study to have the malodorous taint of fresh PC-researched bovine matter, I began to follow the lead in search of PC weasel words, other grubby PC-related circumstances that would help generate the study's seeming conclusion too convenient, too perfect for the PC crowd and their favorite object of abuse, disdain and derision, anything related to human maleness.

My first clue was the author of the study being served up questions that helped facilitate the horror of the utter monster found at the other end of the male organ, the PC loves to hate. The first 'aha' moment that might explain the prejudicial animus woven into the fabric of this "hit" piece was the author's profile image, the look of raging Sapphic masculinity lead me to my first clue of intentional ambush against males but eventually proved inconclusive with her middle surname seemed to be that of matrimonial origin but then again she may have been chosen her lesbian husband's name out of love, other considerations such as insurance beneficiary.

The biggest clue to the farce that is this work of surreal fiction is the title that is carefully coached in weasel words to cover their collective PC rear-ends.

1 in 4 Men Surveyed..... would exclude men non-surveyed whose decidedly non-raping of women would bring the '1 in 4' down do a far less damming statistical indictment that would make such a UN study beside the point.

Many numerous PC escape routes that make the study decidedly non-scientific in its conclusion is found strewn, littered throughout the article. Like rocks positioned at the mouth of a volcano, so, too are the telltale signs of PC weasel words found wherever muddying of the waters need muddling.

When I saw these claims I refused to post it on Free Republic, although I focus on Asia postings. I didn’t post it on the grounds it is completely inaccurate. I lived in the region for 10 years. The bigger problem is rampant adultery, prostitution and alcoholism. Most husbands are too busy getting action anywhere but at home.

New Guinea has a history of man on young boy rapes, too. Christian missionaries remain astonished by the joy of young boys who escape their villages for a new life without the threat of regular rape until they grow big and powerful enough to resist.

Based on some VERY vague definition of rape, and some very sloppy statistical work, it's probably not all that surprising.

For example, this isn't a random sample, it's a volunteer sample. First question that comes to mind: are the volunteers in any way compensated for their answers. If so, it's highly likely the sample will be skewed toward socioeconomic/educational classes more likely to commit crimes (and not just rape.)

But then I encounter this gem toward the end of the article:

"If you ask men if they made their wife have sex even if she didn't want it ..."

Now, in many cultures this is not considered rape. As a matter of fact, even in our culture this is not considered rape depending on what "made" means and what "didn't want" means. Because it could mean anything from "She was tired but I kept bugging her and it was my birthday so ..." to "She backed me into a corner with a knife and said keep that thing away from me, so I threw her down on the floor and..."

Now clearly the first isn't rape in the mind of any serious person, that is, any person who is not a feminist, and the latter is. I suspect the responses lean more toward the former than the latter given the source of the information and the numbers involved.

One does not even discover until the end of the article that married men and their wives are part of this alleged research. That alone sets off some alarm bells in my head.

as much as I would love to include him in any study regarding rape, doesn’t qualify, unless you define being Asian as measured by the small stature of one’s maleness as characterized By Asian men and might very well qualify Birr CRINTON as Asian using just such compact parameters.

It takes some digging but from the report

“Rates of reported non partner violence varies...with 2 percent of women surveyed in Hong Kong, China and Vietnam and 11 percent of women in a a national sample in Samoa reported ever having experienced non partner violence.”

In plain English, 2 percent of women in China, Hong Kong and Vietnam report “non partner violence”. That is a really low number.

also from the report,

Partner rape is when “had intercourse with his partner when he knew she did not want it but believed she should agree because she was his wife.”

And for some reason the damn report is copy protected so you have to actually retype this crap.

Frankly, “Non Partner Rape” is practically non existant in China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, etc. It is all “Partner” rape.
