Former Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich on Sunday blasted President Barack Obama's diplomatic strategy with Russia President Vladimir Putin regarding Syria's use of chemical weapons, saying Obama is now "following from behind."
"You have Putin playing chess and Obama playing, frankly, a very lucky game of tic-tac-toe," Gingrich said on CNN's "State of the Union." "Putin stepped in to maximize Russian influence in the Middle East. That is a strategically defeat for the United States."
"We are now relying on the Russians," said Gingrich, now a host of CNN's 'Crossfire." We're now following from behind -- not leading from behind. This is not a good long-term position."
The former House speaker from Georgia also said the American public is very wary of intervening in the Middle East.
"People are sick of the violence. They are sick of the Middle East. They are sick of where we are as a country right now," Gingrich said.
Thanks, Newt. Now go peddle your Global Warming crap somewhere else. Or, better yet, just go away.
So you think that Obama is doing just find with foreign policy?
No. I think Newt Gingrich is a puke.
Amen!
As the pic provided suggests.
Newton Gingrich is such a disappointment. Like so many of his fellow Republicans, he has had so many opportunities to lead but has never done so, just done a lot of talking.
Maybe he never learned to type.
He’s an academic at heart. Bright, but a talker, not a do-er.
Sheesh! His sitting with Pelosi doesn’t change the fact that in this case when he’s right about Obama, he’s right.
“he has had so many opportunities to lead but has never done so”
Does Contract With America ring a bell? First Repub majority in HOR in YEARS. And his record as Speaker against Clinton?
Newt is not perfect..but he has been a leader. The Pubs turned against him when he was Speaker...and again in the last presidential election. Of course...Romney was the chosen one before there was even a primary.
