Mitt Romney on Friday said the Republican threat to shut down the government in an attempt to defund ObamaCare isn’t an “effective” strategy.

"We're more effective tactically not to use a shutdown of some kind to pursue the ... anti-Obamacare objective,” Romney said in an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper. “I don't think that will be as effective.”

[snip]

"I think there's a better way of getting rid of ObamaCare — my own view — and that is, one, delaying it by at least a year,” Romney said. “That was Senator (Joe) Manchin's idea, the Democrats' idea.”.......

I’m sure glad none of these wishy-washy spineless RINO’s weren’t around at the beginning of this country. Can’t stomach warm English beer.

Sorry, any one know why we should take advice from Romney? I don’t think anything he has to say will help.

Romney is buying Obama's and Dem's narrative--"Republicans are threatening to shut down the govt.".

Looks to me like Repubs are demanding some principled changes and the Dems are threatening a shutdown--"we won't negotiate."

Effective as what? Your last election strategy?

Romneycare's election strategy was to keep conservatives out of the White House and Bathhouse Barry in it. It was a resounding success.

Myth was never anything but another tax collector for the welfare state.

You said; “The house controls the purse strings. It’s their only power on the other branches to say they will never follow through is to neuter them.”

In September 17, 2009, Congressman Charlie Rangel introduced H.R. 3590, titled the “Service Members Home Ownership Tax Act of 2009” to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 modifying the first-time homebuyers’ credit for members of the Armed Forces and certain other Federal employees. Nancy Pelosi was Speaker of the House and John Boehner was the minority leader when this bill passed on October 8, 2009 by a 416-0 vote. This bill went to the Senate where Majority Leader Harry Reid gutted H.R. 3590, deleted all the contents after the first sentence, and replaced it with what became the “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act” of November 19, 2009.

Article I, section 7, which states that “All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills.” The key idea is that the Supreme Court recently upheld the individual mandate as a tax. But then it is a bill for raising revenue. That means that the Affordable Care Act must have begun in the House of Representatives. And it did not.” Therefore the Senate is in violation of the Constitution by funding something.

What should Boner do? Maybe ignore Reid [see above] and send the bill to O-Hole and tell him to sign it, or else.

what should he do if all else fails?

impeachment hearings

the house is the representation of the people. if the house is being ignored, we the people have the power to pull the plug on the guy sitting @ 1600. additionally, the house can stop flowing any and all monies to the various govt agencies. on top of that, they should immediately pass a law that states no govt employee would receive ‘back pay’ from periods in which the govt was shutdown. otherwise, a ‘shutdown’ is really just a few weeks of paid vacation

There was never a Republican threat to shut down the government. It was Obama who would be shutting down the government.

He has no voice. He pretty much threw in the towel on the last election and cursed us with this administration.
