The only facts you need to know is...

According to BBC, in 1967 the strength of the anti-war campaign led President Lyndon Johnson to ask US intelligence agencies to find out if some protests were being stoked by foreign governments.

The program continued after Richard Nixon entered the White House in 1969. US Attorney General Elliot Richardson shut down the NSA program in 1973,

Johnson didn’t need to ask intelligence agencies that, of course. Unless he really was that naïve, that is.

Yeh, but did they spy on THE FOREIGNER. And why didn’t they. If so, where is the data.

Fred had to put the shoe back on, and Barney didn’t help.

Big deal....Back when King did his “poor peoples march” through north Mississippi, I was asked by a Memphis TV station to go along with them to provide some communications service, as this was long before cellular phones.
While there, I hooked up with some US Army military intelligence guys, working out of a mobile camper.
It was all pretty much one big joke, as we spent our time
in their camper, drinking beer and cracking jokes.
There was only one night that we went out and snuck up to the side of a black folk’s church where king was speaking just to listen at what was going on.
In those days, there was concern over Communist activities in America.

The data is available but will be kept confidential until the day this country self-destructs.

Why are you so impatient?

Began in 1967 under Lyndon Johnson (D), King died in 1968, program inherited by and continued under Nixon until 1973. Thanks Olog-hai.
