Drug customers get prosecuted for drug possession, not for conspiracy to sell drugs. (If anyone tried to prosecute them for that, the courts would throw it out.) That's what Arizona was doing here--prosecuting illegal aliens for "conspiracy to smuggle aliens" when the only aliens they were conspiring to smuggle were themselves. It was a totally bogus charge, and good for the courts in putting a stop to it.

Maricopa county was the only county in AZ that had the conspiracy to smuggle law.

It was former Maricopa county attorney Andrew Thomas' interpretation of the state law that allowed Sheriff Joe to do this. The other county attorneys didn't see it that way.

Arpaio was busting a lot of illegals with this but he wasn't busting many coyotes.

A lot of the credit that people give to Arpaio should have been given to Prosecuter Thomas.

So the court is saying,it is not a crime to hire well known drug cartel criminals in Mexico, paying them upfront thousands of dollars to smuggle them into America bringing the often-violent drug cartel criminal smugglers, into America putting communties&law enforcement at risk and the court is saying, that this is legal and illegals are free to hire any well known drug cartel smugglers they wish without any repercussions from American law enforcement.?Hiring drug cartels is legal now ?
