My point was to the contrary. Neither sargeantdave nor myself went looking for curses. I'm quite positive that Sargeantdave's comment 'May We Live In Interesting Times' was conveyed with the best of intentions without the slightest ill-will or rancor.

Without knowing its precise connotation 'May You Live In Interesting Times' is easily interpreted as that of a message, intent of good will. People use it in that way but are not aware of what it actually means.
So, I felt compelled to send him a head's up.

“May you live in interesting times and come to the attention of important people”. This is how I always heard it. Gives a more sinister connotation
