HOBOKEN – Gov. Chris Christie blamed the four-day federal shutdown on a “fundamental failure” of leadership by legislators in Washington D.C. in an address yesterday to hundreds of students at the Stevens Institute of Technology.
“Thank you for giving us optimism about the future, as we watch the craziness going on as we speak in Washington D.C.,” Christie said, wrapping up his speech to students and faculty. “It’s a fundamental failure where you are put in charge of running a government, you know, to close it. That’s not in the job description, I can guarantee that.”
Christie was only scheduled to announce a $7.25 million state technology grant for the school, but also found himself making an impromptu homecoming week speech, rallying hundreds of students and faculty from a central lawn on the campus.
The Republican-controlled Senate has refused to pass a federal budget, saying that amendments to the so-called Obamacare must be made before a budget agreement is reached.
“Things like that tend to make us pessimistic and cynical about the future of our country (and) that is why I’m so lucky to come to a place like this today,” Christie said. “While other people in public life are living in a sea of cynicism and self-interest, I get to come and visit a place full of optimism and service for our society in the future.”

1)Stop Obamacare and...
2)SLASH THE F**K OUT OF THE FEDERAL BUDGET, PASS IT, AND GO BACK TO YOUR HOME STATE TO YOUR FULL TIME JOB FOR THE BALANCE OF THE 50 WEEKS IN THE YEAR!
