House GOP Preparing to Give Up
Redstate ^ | 10/10/2013 | Erick Erickson

Posted on 10/10/2013 5:50:54 AM PDT by JSDude1

I’m being told by several sources that Speaker Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor are plotting to give up trying to either defund or delay Obamacare.

This comes at the same time the Obama administration admits it will be months before their Obamacare website will be fixed and Kathleen Sebelius is saying if people want out of the mandate they can pay a fine.

Nonetheless, Cantor, Boehner, and with them Mitch McConnell and John Cornyn are expected to cave in and fully fund, unimpeded, Obamacare.

They will work up a new deal that includes a debt ceiling increase with a few sops to the GOP as cover. The only change they are still considering it the medical device tax repeal, which is being heavily lobbied for by former Boehner and McConnell staffers who left for K Street.

A number of Democrats who are recipients of campaign cash along with these Republicans may provide a crony capitalist bridge over which this one tax repeal can pass while leaving in place all the other taxes, penalties, and fees.

But John Boehner, Eric Cantor, Mitch McConnell, and John Cornyn will ensure that Obamacare is fully funded and give the American public no delay like businesses have.

In doing so, they will sow the seeds of a real third party movement that will fully divide the Republican Party.

We would not endorse a nominee for Treasury Secretary who was under indictment for embezzlement.

We would not support appointing a head of FBI with known associations with Drug Lords.

So why are we not screaming at every congress critter to STOP Obamacare dead in it’s tracks until a complete investigation of IRS abuses is done and the people who distributed private tax information and perpetrated intimidation tactics against conservative groups are brought to justice?

After all, the IRS is going to become the enforcement arm of Obamacare. A thug police force in charge of our financial security and our health ...ain’t that great?

I'm assuming you used that as a rhetorical device. Because, if you think about it....

I think this is good strategy actually. Although, I am dumbfounded why they would leak this.

Drop Obamacare issue in favor of debt reduction, tax reform, entitlement reform etc... and let Obamacare suck out the wind of thosse liberals out there that are applying for it.

THEN, put up anti-Obamacare candidates within the GOP for 2014.

You said the exact same thing I said, and I didn’t read what you said before I said it.

The worst thing now is for the GOP to disintegrate. We need to unite...all of us for 2014.

As they are caving, obamacare is collapsing. I guess you just can’t fix stupid. At the end of the day, Ted Cruz will be the hero in all of this.

House GOP Preparing to Give Up

So far as Weeper of the House, this seems to be the ONLY thing Boehner is good at!

How can I unite with a party that stands for nothing? If they refuse to fight they are on the Dems side period. I refuse to unite with a party that will enslave my children.

I’m sick of these failures in the GOP. I’m sick of the progressive enemy within the party. I’m sick of the fact that people too rich for their own good can’t figure out how to market themselves and their party using what should be basic well established branding and marketing techniques. Walmart can do it but for some reason the GOP can’t. They don’t focus on building a brand they focus on trying to co-op the Democrat brand through token efforts to kiss up to gays, feminists, and lovers of big govt.

The vast majority of the GOP are conservative or very conservative yet we have a party that doesn’t reflect this. That needs to change.

Drop Obamacare issue in favor of debt reduction, tax reform, entitlement reform

Really? Do you think that "debt reduction, tax reform, entitlement reform" are winning issues and Obamacare isn't?

Fine. Then let the GOPe do the uniting with conservatives for a change! "Unite" is no more than a kinder, gentler word for "compromise" i.e., bend over and take it.
