Here is the good news. By 17 Oct 2013 we will see what happens. Worst case is GOP capitulates with a clean CR and DL (as I write Obama actually added amnesty to illegals to his demands to the House) and the GOP takes lumps from their base. Six months later the public will forget and the problems with Obamacare will take center of attention to the public. Hopefully the GOP will make mends with the party base and Tea Party and use Obamacare as a hammer on the Dems, and the gov shutdown is a distant memory for most independents

The problem with your approach is your willingness to ignore public opinion. Rasmussen has a good rolling poll. Before shutdown and MSM war on GOP, 40 percent of public would vote GOP for Congress and 40 percent for Dems. After shutdown, 38 percent would vote GOP for Congress and 47 percent would vote Dem. MSM attack on GOP is working. That is the reality. GOP will lose VA governor race because shutdown affected Norther VA voters. Wall Street does not like disruptions to profits as gov operates budget in fits and starts. That is the political terrain the GOP must fight in. There is nothing wrong with conservative principles, but war is fought on the strategic level and tactical level. One must be successful in both endeavors to win. Obamacare flaws and sticker price was the GOP ticket to victory in 2014 and even POTUS in 2016. The shutdown was a PR ambush the GOP ran headlong into. The Dems with the MSM were more then glad to cut the GOP down in the kill zone. The only hope is the shutdown will be settle and the public will forget about it six months from now and Obamacare problems will take front and center.

The problem with your analysis is the GOP quit being engaged in the debate. McConnell surrendered on cloture and hid under his desk for WEEKS. Boehner decided to surrender last week and went radio silent.

You can’t really make any assumptions when one party doesn’t want win. The GOP wants a deal. So badly apparently they are willing to give the unions an obamacare exemption. Wrap your head around that! OTOH, the Dems want to divide and destroy the GOP.

The Dems never any intention to agree to any deal before now because they want this crisis and it’s party of their game plan. So if you want to blame conservatives for the Dem game plan, go right ahead. Conservatives really don’t care what loser RINOS have to say at this point.
