Mrs. Jackson Lee’s legal team sought to have the complaint dismissed, arguing in part that actions concerning her staff are protected under the Speech or Debate clause of the Constitution.

If that's her best defense, her next step will be looking for her checkbook.

That was the event that convinced me that today’s Republicans were just a different shade of Democrat. Brand-name Republicans were almost pushing each other out of the way to make the same argument that Jefferson was.
