Redskins Boycott: 76 Media Outlets and Journalists Oppose Name of Washington NFL Team
By Sara Morrison

San Francisco Chronicle, Slate, Rachel Maddow, Peter King and Bill Simmons among those boycotting the name, according to new study

At least 76 media outlets and journalists are boycotting the name of Washington D.C.-based football team considered by many to be a racial slur, according to a Pew study released on Wednesday.

Rachel Maddow, Peter King and Bill Simmons were among the 12 journalists who have publicly announced a boycott of the name, while 12 media outlets, including the San Francisco Chronicle, Slate and The New Republic, are refusing to use it in their articles. Eight of those instituted the ban in 2013.

12 “journalists” are boycotting?

Can someone please remind me... What is the population of the US?

Boycotting a football team’s name. ROTFL! Some people really need to get themselves a hobby.

Politically correct posturing is absolutely necessary for a career in the MSM. However to be politically correct is to be painfully superficial and delusional.

Who is putting this together?

Some entity has to be organizing this. Who are they?

Is there Soros money involved?

Why do we have to endure the wishes of so few?

I give up. Our national media, political class, and all liberaldom have relegated themselves to the roll of the “cool girls” in any given high school.

Usually led by one or a few especially vapid popular girls, they dictate what is cool, en vogue, happening, or not-cool, et al.

The rest of the hangers-on and wannabes all jump lock-step in unison for support.

Just damn......

If I owned the team and had my way, I'd name the team, “Washington Coons” and have a masked raccoon as the mascot to symbolize the thievery Washington DC perpetrates on us

The First Amendment is squandered by ‘media outlets and journalists’ openly endorsing cultural Marxism.

Refusing to use the name in print is not courage; it is cowardice. Declaring something taboo is merely a first step on the way to state enforcement of ‘you can’t say that.’

Some people really need to get themselves a hobby.

They have one -- liberal indignation as an art form.

The solution to the Washington Redskins problem:

It's a universally appealing solution!

The conservative case:

Naming a professional sports franchise after somebody is an honor worthy of Ronald Reagan because of his great accomplishments, including, but not limited to:

The liberal case:

Naming a professional sports franchise after a person is a horrendous and dishonorable insult to their legacy, a fate Ronald Reagan deserves because of the horrible things he did, including, but not limited to:

A city named after a great president deserves a football team named after a great president.

Well put!

Little Danny has a chance of ‘coming up’ in my estimation if he just laughs at these cultural marxists, and tells ‘em to KMA!

As long as they aren’t boycotting over lack of HGH testing the NFL is perfectly fine with it and no doubt hopes the ridiculous debate about the name Redskins continues for a long time.

Benghazi, Fast & Furious, IRS scandal, Obamacare, NSA surveillance— that’s all low hanging fruit that these journalists are ignoring to focus on the real issue of the day— a football team’s nickname....

“Millions of Redskins fans don’t.”

When the NFL allows teams to use names like the “San Diego Spics”, “Houston Hebes”, “New York N*****s”, and “San Francisco Chinks”, all with logos matching their team nicknames, then Washington can continue to call its team the “Redskins.”

Until then, the Washington franchise continues to highlight the racist roots of the Washington team and the hypocrisy of the NFL.
