Obamacare’s Unintended Losers
Yahoo! News ^ | 10/31/13 | Bernice Napach | Daily Ticker

Obamacare is meant to provide health coverage to the millions of Americans who don't have it, but the cruel irony is that millions of other Americans may lose their current health insurance as a result.

These "losers" are primarily people who buy their own health insurance rather than have it provided by an employer. Many now find their plans will be canceled because they fail to meet the minimum coverage requirements under Obamacare. These plans offer "bare bones insurance...usually catastrophic care...and beginning Jan. 1 insurance companies will not be allowed to offer these very plans," says Rick Newman, Yahoo Finance columnist.

"Obama did not tell us this was coming," adds Newman, "and now the White House is saying it's only 5% of the U.S. population. But it's 15 million people we're talking about here."

No one knows for sure exactly how many of those 15 million will actually lose their current insurance coverage. NPR reports that some insurers are canceling 20% of individual plans; others are canceling 80% of them.

Looks like that ObamaCare may cost the Dems a lot more than any of them thought it might.

Too bad, they should have read the bill before they voted for IT.

Unintended? I think not.

Unintended? A lot of what Obama is doing makes perfect sense if one adopts the hypothesis that he is trying to destroy both capitalism within America, and also America in general, by following the Cloward-Piven strategy. Within the context of such an hypothesis, the disaster would appear entirely intended, right down to the lies that led Obamacare to be enacted.

Employer mandate was delayed.

The other shoe drops about a year from now or so.

Sounds like former Maine RINO Olympia Snowe was inclined to vote Yea on the floor but decided not to after nobody could explain to her how the Affordable Care Act was going to be in any way “affordable”.

At least she was smart enough to take the final exit ramp.
Not so for all these Dems.

I tend to believe that most Dem voters will not be affected.
Waivers, subsidies, medicaid, etc.
Time will tell.

Exactly my situation. My alternative now are nearly 4x as expensive as my old plan. And no exemptions are apparent.

Way to stick it to the single largest provider of job growth, you morons. Small businesses.

And now it comes to light that the Liar in Chief knew this would happen when the law was written. It predicted 65% of independent buyers would lose their coverage, and stunningly, 51% of those insured by employers would lose theirs as well.
Knowing this would create a fire-storm, the Leftist university types in charge, decided to let the employer-paid group, the largest group, ride for one more year, until after the 2014 elections, before they will be dumped from their coverage and forced into ObamaCare.

It’s all there for those who can read. How about contacting your worthless government bloodsuckers and try fighting back before your cancelation letter comes?

“These “losers” are primarily people who buy their own health insurance rather than have it provided by an employer.

These people are business owners or independent contractors (construction, IT, medical).

If it is 15 million people, it means 15 million households which is more like 45 million people affected.

This is the class most hurt by Obama.

Not organized to be heard.

Media has no sympathy.

No racial component, but all races represented.

No exemptions or carve out will be granted.

“Not organized to be heard.”

No PACs or lobbyists to bribe Congressmen to give them a spot at the government feeding trough.

Wait until many small businesses cancel their group plans for their employees next year due to the obamacare-induced premium increases. The “5%” will suddenly be a lot more.

The Dicktater and his people keep calling the plans sub standard, Acme plans, and low quality.

If someone like me isn’t afraid to spend money out of pocket for a few Dr’s appointments every year and have a catastrophic plan that covers 100% after that, how can that be sub standard.

Those of us who are privately insured are ONLY 5%. No big deal. Of course they had to seize control of the healthcare of 330,000,000 people for ONLY 10%.

I hate Obama. He is a beast.

I’m waiting for Obama to get his way and he guts Tricare for retired military. Right now, we are safe. But the Dems won’t give up. They will keep going after our benefits.

OK, they admit they were not being careful enough with their words in that absolute promise to voters, but the past is the past and Obamacare is law of the land so all we can do now is pull together to make it work better for the American people. DA-DA-DA America...America...

Maybe they cant get their old insurance policy that they liked anymore but some day at that Obamacare website when it works they will get a better one that covers lots more critical stuff, after they pay the $6,000 deductible.

Look, anyone can get pregnant now-a-days (with sexual identies changing so often) and you dont want to get caught knocked up without comprehensive coverage. You will able to sleep at night knowing you are covered.

Here's something we all need to keep in mind:

Bambam and his minions knew he was going to take flak once people started getting cut from their insurance.

He knows that if he can weather this storm he can reach the far shore and this debacle will become a fact of life.

If this "law" becomes real law its the end of the republic as we know it.

The liberal puketards on talk radio all insist that we should have known that when Obama said “you can keep your health insurance if you like it” we should have known that there was a big friggin’ IF after that sentence, as in “IF it meets the ACA standards”. So, you see, he really didn’t lie like a rug.

Posted this on another thread:

Too furious about this to think straight--- all of the lives, the individual stories...real people who have been utterly up-ended, many of them battling serious or terminal illnesses. Many, or even most, of these people will be without insurance Jan 1, either because they can't afford it or because the ObamaCare website will either NOT be fixed by Nov 30 or will not be secure enough to use by Nov 30.

IMO, Nov 30 was as big a lie as any other that has been used to deceive the American citizen. Also, IIRC, even if the uninsured can navigate all of those rocky shoals, IIRC, it takes 4-6 weeks for a policy to go through and take effect. How many of these people will have thought they have signed up only to find out they have not. For many people, this is not going to be a matter of paying a fine; it will be a matter of paying with their lives.

My hope is that unlike other scandals, which require spending time with alternative news to understand the particular scandal, THIS scandal only requires a nightmare obamacare anecdote from a neighbor, relative, friend, co-worker, etc. Everybody is going to have one of those.

The quicker we can replace front-page fiasco that is the obamacare website with the front-page TRUE man-made disaster that is ObamaCare itself, the better.

Obama is STILL floating this evil lie:

This was on the White House web site at 5:30 EST today, October 29, 2013. Look at the second to last paragraph. You can click to enlarge.

Another way to divide America. some people’s “Rights” outweigh the other’s “Rights” (for the collective good). I wonder how those people whose “Rights” have now taken away the “Rights” of their neighbors, friends, family, fellow Americans feel? (my guess is they don’t care whose Rights they violate. just wait until healthcare is rationed. those who use more than they “should” will THEN realize they have been screwed, but who will stand up then for their “RIGHTS”?)
