Young daughter in hand, Isabel Aguilera recounts the mayhem that stalked these streets.

Here they dragged a father from the breakfast table, shooting him dead outside in front of his family. There they came for a shopkeeper, gunning him down behind the counter. Yonder they snuffed two brothers after pulling them from their beds before sunrise.

“They were people from outside,” Aguilera, 38, said of the killings that recently swept like cholera through Riveras del Bravo, a teeming sprawl of Mexico’s working poor. “They wanted to inject power, fear.”

These thousands of matchbox houses once ranked among Earth's deadliest patches through years of criminal war in Ciudad Juarez, an industrial and narcotics corridor bordering America’s safest large city El Paso, Texas.

I used to walk over to Juarez a lot to have lunch at the old market... it was safe then. Here is a video I shot over there just a few days after it got so rowdy they deployed troops on the streets.

I used to spend a lot of time there, including dating the locals, Juarez was the only city where I ran into the practice of, having to take her escort along.

I’ve never heard of a male escorting a proper lady on a date, it is always a female.

I'm sorry. I did not realize you were talking about proper ladies. Never mind.

The war between the cartels must be over. The side that won was armed by 0bama.

I’ve done business with a Mexican asphalt and heavy oil dealer in Juarez. While I never felt threatened by anyone, I did make it a point to be back in El Paso before nightfall.

“Juarez, Mexico’s Onetime Murder Capital, Is Making a Comeback”....

Without reading the article, the headline tells me the Juarez is once again becoming the Murder Capital of Mexico.

Chaperone.

I had forgotten that most accurate word, while escort would have normally been acceptable, in today’s America, “chaperon “ was the truly clear way to have said it, sorry about that tdscpa.
