Sarvis was a Libertarian, not a libertarian. He was actually a liberal hoping to siphon the votes of independents who consider themselves conservative but were too lazy to check him out. Instead, he hoped they'd fall for the Libertarian label.
He'd been polling around 10%, but only got 6.6%. So, maybe some folks wised up in time.
