Most Uninsured Americans Ignoring Health Exchange Sites
Gallup ^ | November 8, 2013 | Frank Newport

PRINCETON, NJ -- In the midst of widespread news coverage of problems with the federal health exchange website, relatively few uninsured Americans (18%) -- the primary target population for the exchanges -- have so far attempted to visit an exchange website. The percentage is slightly higher, 22%, among uninsured Americans who say they plan to get insurance through the exchanges.

Have you personally gone to, or attempted to go to, a government health insurance exchange website since the Internet-based health exchanges opened on October 1, or not?

I said it the first week. All the anecdotal reports in the media were of people who were already insured going onto the exchange to try and get a subsidy, such as a pre-Medicare retiree and a college student. Insurance was never that expensive or hard-to-get. The exchange hasn’t made it any easier to get. If you were irresponsible or ignorant before, you’re not going to suddenly become responsible because Barack made a web site and put out a vague threat to tax you in a couple years if you don’t sign up.

I'm ignoring it and I'm insured - until 12/31/13.

I intend to continue ignoring it until I die or they lock me up.

What will the Obamabots do?

Even if the website had been running perfectly from day 1, there would be critical masses of uninsured who are NOT motivated enough to sit down, log in, set up an account, buy the insurance, and pay for it. Hmmmm..........

Yes, there are fines to be assessed for those not having insurance, but, there will still potentially be millions without health insurance.

I heard a liberal commentator on some program, lamenting that they really wanted single payer, but, the liberals are reduced to defending a law and a process they really didn’t want to see in the first place. And this liberal blamed the GOP for voting against Obamacare, and interfering with its implementation, etc.

Only complete dolts would enter their personal information on an unsecured web site run by government bureaucrats.

Maybe they just don’t own computers. Perhaps ObeyMeObama should provide them with one.

So... the number losing insurance that had it is many times the number of those getting insurance that didn’t have it.

By design. Obama’s #1 driving motivation is punishing his “enemies”. Productive, responsible people are his enemies.

It will serve the greedy insurers right for hopping into bed with Obama if they lose millions of customers whom they have dumped. If 700,000 workers have disappeared from the labor force in the month of October, and no one knows where they are, it will be even more puzzling when about 50,000,000 people disappear from the rolls of the insurers.

Overall, about 17% of U.S. adults interviewed between Oct. 23 and Nov. 6 reported having no health insurance, similar to the percentages found in the first three quarters of this year.

Meanwhile, Barry's gubmint says the 5% of insured people on individual insurance plans is a tiny amount, and not worth changing their law for.

There are 240 million adults in the U.S. Using Gallup's percent, 199 million of those are insured. 5% of the insured group is 10 million adults. 40 million are uninsured according to Gallup's number. So Barack remade the health system for 40 million people, but 10 million is an insignificant amount to him. 25% of a significant number is still significant to most people.

Why would liberals expect the uninsured, who are probably in the majority of less affluent and computer knowledgeable folks, be able to use computers to enroll.

These are the same people they say can’t manage to get a photo id for voting, even if their State provides methods for free ids.

Have you heard the great news about Romneycare? We don’t hear much about it since its implementation.

Since its implementation:

Insurance rates here are way up.

Emergency room visits are way up.

Healthcare in MA is worse in every respect.

And since the MA healthcare “Connector” was linked to the Obamacare site, it has stopped working.

Or people with cancer who just got dropped by their health insurance provider.

I can imagine exactly how the Founders would have treated a POTUS like this.

Most Uninsured Americans Ignoring Health Exchange Sites

Many "uninsured" are people with pre-existing conditions that Insurance companies will not sell health insurance to at any price. A large portion are well educated and therefore are well acquainted with the lack of security at the "Health Exchanges". Of course, there is also the problem that the mental giants of the 0bama regime caused by building a crappy website.

The push for single payer endangers his life. If it happens by chicanery, he will be on one of the tumbrels headed to the head chopper

Even if I desperately wanted and needed Obamacare I would refuse to sign up until all the questions about security have been addressed and fixed.

It is odd but as an ex government employee our internal security (VA Hospital) was very good and if you violated it, you were in for a very bad day and even termination. However, the obamacare site violates at multiple levels the security we employed at the VA.

Why in hell did they roll this turkey out the door????

It was expensive and hard or impossible to get for those with pre-existing conditions, a group you've completely ignored yet makes up a big chunk of those eager for new coverage.

Don’t forget doctors left/quit in droves in MA as well since Romneycare went into effect.
